@Chirac Thanks, good advice. Aiming to remove it cleanly so I can sell it on and someone else can run it, interesting looking headset just not in keeping with how i want the bike to look. Due to needing it's own spanner I don't think they're very desirable! The strap wrenches I bought should give me the best shot, job for the New Year.
@kjlem Bold shout! I have black in the box of groupset bits so will use them. Bar tape coming is Viper Yellow Lizard Skinz, I hope that and the saddle will be a similar Yellow and make the frame stand out.
@lotsirb, noted. The saddle seems unusual as most seem to have black kevlar tabs.

More CAAD progress. Prime 50mm wheels bought and de-stickered. Silver Deda bars to be rattle canned gloss black to match. Black Tange sealed bearing headset incoming. Strap wrench to remove Stronglight headset bought but yet to deploy it in anger, here's hoping I can get it off without damaging it!

So, progress for now. Wheels will be swapped for Fulcrum 4s from the Kona I own, black with ally brake track and Vittoria Open Pave 25s. Deda Sepciale traditional drop bars are replacing the Eubios that were marked from slipping in the stem (will need to be sprayed gloss black from chrome first).

I want to swap out the Stronglight X94 and am hoping a strap wrench will do the biz removing it... designed for a proprietary spanner for no good reason. Been looking for a Chris King gripnut but either unavailable second hand or new ones going for as much as the whole bike cost. Going to be Tange I think.

The Kalloy seatpost and jet saddle resulted in a pretty high stack /short seatpost, and the Elita One I posted before didnt look right. In 1997 Cinelli were finishing kit sponsor, and I found a nice ally seatpost that fitted the bill.

Saddle wise, I took a gamble and still can't work out if I like it or not... yellow Flite. Head says black saddle and tape, yet part of me wants to go obnoxious. It's staying for now

Spammed myself with a double post

Well, bailed on the Rotor crank idea (for now) due to cost. Decided to go the MGOOF route due to the very cheap 105 deal from Chain Reaction (https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-105-r7000-11-speed-rim-brake-groupset/rp-prod214190). I wasn't prepared to spend £50 on an Octalink BB so decided to make the move.

This lead to the build needing more black parts to suit. I used some Tamiya modelling paint to change the downtube bosses, really looks nice against the red frame.

I think there's supposed to be a butterfly on the top tube, but it looks like a dog has curled a walnut whip onto it. Apt.

Ah nice one, thanks for taking the time to post. Definitely seems like my stem nicked the handlebars because the clamp loosened.

What I've done to be sure is run a fine file across the clamping edges then covered with gloss black Tamiya model paint.
