It wouldn’t have come to it if Trump weren’t out for Biden blood.
The DoJ probably wouldn’t have bothered with him. If they did, they would’ve investigated him, and his lawyers would’ve come to a plea deal (which in this case they did) and the presiding judge would’ve accepted it (which in this case she didn’t). Whether or not her clear sympathies for trump influenced her judgement has yet to be established in a court of law, but it’s not unreasonable to suspect.
It’s all bonkers. The side being held to a high standard is treated as equal to the side flaunting that they hold no standards at all. Pardoning his persecuted son is nepotism, yes, but there’s zero chance the man would’ve had fair and open proceedings. It’s not in the same league as pardoning people for cash or because they broke the law to help you break other laws, which is mr. trjmp’s case.

So what’s going on at the bbc
Nothing is ever wrong at the bbc. They’re entirely ethical and completely impartial and shit gold. The inference that they’re the official mouthpieces of the state and therefore it shouldn’t be surprising that they commonly exhibit the same puerile behaviour as those in government, well, that’s nonsensical and un British and would make the Queen cry.

How badly policing has deteriorated in this country.
Some aggressive asshat was disrupting traffic and loudly threatening to rape a woman then a man in Herne Hill, and after 10 minutes the cops were still no shows. Motherfucker walked away with a bike (his or someone else’s) leaving people shaking and in tears, no consequences.
Even if the cops had bothered or had been available to respond to the incident, which could have easily turned violent, the likelihood of that sick fuck getting any impactful consequences is pretty much nil.

Any reputable studies on when the hatred against cyclists started in the UK? Seems like an interesting and impactful thing for a sociologist to pick apart.
My hunch is that it’s an artefact of late 19th / early 20th century classism, when workers increased their presence on the roads through the use of the recently invented bicycle, which must have pissed off the horse/carrriage/car-using upper class to no end. Fast forward to mass manufacture and sale of automobiles by the wealthy to the UK Everyman, and the bicycle must’ve been additionally loathed.
With the exceptions perhaps of Oxford and Cambridge, I reckon hate of cyclists correlates pretty well with Tory voting tendencies on a map.

not believed to be a wider threat to the public
There’s an unidentified intentional murderer on the run. Nothing to worry about though, they’ve only killed people who happened to be on a bicycle at the time.
Just read article linked below, stating that the SUV followed the bikes then rammed one of them without stopping.

While technically the same bike, it’s $1200 more for that (more divisive) livery. Also the bike is a 49cm, which don’t seem to come up much in the 2nd hand market.
Also the owner has managed to break the thru axle retainer somehow…? I know some Factor have a design/production flaw where the derailleur hanger, if cynched down tight, gets in the way of the thru axle, resulting in excessive friction to remove and install the thru axle. The workaround is to loosen that plate, tighten the axle, and tighten the plate, but I wonder if they didn’t know that and somehow broke the retainer. 🤷♂️

Life insurance is also a thing.
