Unfortunately, it was one or the other. And I figured the Crockett had more utility (should’ve sold my road bike haha).

Clearance is great. Never had any problems with mud build up and I ran 40s on it for a gravel ride in the summer.

It’s been lovely so far. Used it in a couple of races, for Weds night cross training and longer rides in Epping Forest with no complaints.

Cheers, maybe it's worth just running 2x until I can get hold of a new RD.

Had one of these. Sold out on here, bitterly regret it. But on the upside, I did sell it to buy a 2019 Crockett, which has stranglehold dropouts. So watch this space.

Anyone ever done a 1X conversion without a clutch derailleur?

They seem to be in short supply and I'm wondering if I can get away with running a narrow-wide chainring and doing without a new RD.

It's for my cross bike so not dropping the chain is pretty important.

This is really cool. I'm considering doing something similar with an old SuperSix I broke the DS dropout on (if I can get it fixed cheaply enough). I'm not sure I can ever trust it shifting under load again, but I reckon it could work as a bling beater.

Any chance you'd sell just the 5800 chainset? I only really want the rings cos I run 175 cranks. I'm currently using an unholy union of 5800 with r7000 rings and it works mechanically, but it looks like a piece of bad expressionist art cos the spider doesn't sit flush.

Understand if it makes more sense for you to sell it as a groupset.

Yeah, they come up pretty regularly in smaller sizes (although usually for a ludicrous price) but the bigger ones are like gold dust. I really regret selling mine.

I've hopefully got a bonus coming up at the end of the month and I still ride regularly with the dude I sold it to, so it might be time to make him an offer he can't refuse hahaa.

Ah, if these were the disc versions I'd have had them off you for my cx bike. Already got a set of the rim brake version on my road bike. Great wheels, a real bargain for somebody. GLWS.
