I think this is pretty spot on. Although it's gonna be a long couple of years until the next GE (assuming it isn't earlier), I do think there's more chance of Labour winning with Truss in charge than Sunak.

As a former Basingstokeite, I second this. But I think Odiham Ford, just down from the canal is reasonably safe, if not particularly deep. My Dad used to take us swimming there as kids anyway.

There's also Longbridge Mill on the A33 between Reading and Basingstoke. There's a great plunge pool bit, out the back of the pub/restaurant of the same name, part of the river Loddon. I'm not 100% sure it's legal to swim there, but it never stopped us as teenagers.

And there's Bourley Lakes between Aldershot and Farnham on the Hampshire/Surrey borderline. It's absolutely beautiful there, it looks like something from the Pacific Northwest. I think it's ex-MOD land though, so it's probably worth checking whether you can swim there.

I have many times but, as you should have concluded by now, I was an idiot in my younger years.

I've found the Universal Colours ones from Sigma pretty good. They're quite pricey but mine have lasted two years. The logos peeled off straight away but functionally they're still fine.

I'd say definitely more club fit than aero. I'm 6'4" and 75 kg and it fits me almost perfectly. I've fit a baselayer and jersey under it with no trouble. Also occasionally normal clothes. But it also doesn't flap about too much.

Meant to also say, the hole isn't all the way through, the lining is intact so it doesn't affect the waterproofing.

Errrm, I guess, it'll fit in a large envelope type thing, so I'd guess about £3?

DHB commuter jacket (L) with reflective arms, the most waterproof commuting jacket I’ve ever owned. Only saw a winter’s action so in good nick - £20.

Morvelo jersey (L), worn once - £10

Chapeau cafe jersey (L) x2, both only worn a couple of times. Lovely jerseys, just not really my bag. -£15 each

Tommy Hilfiger T Shirt (M), literally worn for about an hour on Boxing Day. Lovely quality shirt, but not really my style - £10
