The other piece of the puzzle is this photo - using a 5mm chainring.

I have that chainring and tried fitting it, and the hidden spider was too thick. If you zoom in, you can see that there's a slight lip of the chainring on the 4 normal spiders, because the chainring is slightly thicker.

So it looks like it is possible - but unsure if I need to take a grinder to the spider or not.

So I think it's more that the body of the spider sits flush with the top of the Miche chainring at the moment - so it would need to be filed to make more space (if that makes sense).

Pictures are below - both appear to be Alter chainrings, which are 5mm according to Alter.

Hey all. I've seen a couple of photos of Pistard 2.0s with what appear to be 5mm thick chainrings. I can't figure out how the mechanics put these on - potentially filing the hidden spider? Any ideas?

I had a Thompson seatpost that kept on slipping in my steel frame. Solution was to cut a rectangle out of a beer can to use a shim (I slotted it in at the same height the clamp was at on the stem). I also thoroughly degreased and used carbon grip paste (these didn't work without the shim sadly).

Anyone got any experience with Vittoria inserts? Came across them recently (I realise they've been out for a while) - am considering them for my gravel bike

It's an XL. Was a bit concerned when I got it as I'm 6'1" and my other bikes tend to be Large, but having a bit more space on an off-road bike is a good thing (plus wider wheelbase etc.). I think any smaller and I would cut the handlebars, but on an XL they just about look acceptable

For sure - also because a puncture is the last thing you want when you're cutting it fine in the morning. Might even get inserts!

Also I'd imagine that tubeless would be great for commuting - which you can do with the Pirellis

Tufo Gravel tyres - choose whichever one most suits your roads (probably Thunderoo). I use Swamperoos as I do 95% offroad, and I love them. BRR rate them highly.

Did you put the fork on / did it make a lot of difference? Always wondered about doing this on my Charge.
