Looks like I finally have a workshop again, which means the bike building itch is starting again.
First up, give my fathers bike better gearing for when he goes on holiday to France. He's currently got a classic 2x9 road gearing for the flatlands of the Netherlands, but that doesn't help him in the hills down in France. So, I found a 3x9 mix and match groupset, ready to be installed soon...

In my quest to replace my 2x10 fsa crankset that came loose every 50km, I have bought a Sram Rival 46-33 crankset, only to find out it's 2x12. This means the chain rubs on the big ring when it's in the small ring.
Before I try to sell them on, what other options do I have to make them work? I figured a washer between the small ring and the spider would move it outwards, but the bolts do not let me do that, they're too short. Go 1x might be an option too. I need to ride!
