We’ve got a second home, it’s in very rural Ireland - the next valley from my dads old home. I’ve got some land on the old family farm plot but it’s not building land. When we bought it the house had been empty for a year or so and there was no great demand for old farmhouses so no one was priced out, if anything the area has suffered significant population drop over the last few years.
It’s not an investment - it’s not been a money pit but not far off, we don’t rent it or air bnb it, it’s for us, family and friends to use.
If it were possible I’d spend all my time there, it’s the best thing we’ve bought and a real refuge from all the shit of everyday life and my life there is vastly different to London life.

Used to use Southwark a lot and it wasn’t too bad for traffic. If you were going north you could also go straight into a shared use ped bit of the city (I always turned left for lower Thames street) and going south it was handy for accessing the backstreets around GSS.
Tower bridge has always been horrible, imho, and Waterloo is just crappy for traffic at both ends. -

It does strike me as peculiar that some people show support/vote for convicted terrorists
Not many parties in the entire UK not tainted with blood.
Northern Ireland will always remain sad as long as it’s part of the UK, the only long term solution is for a united, European facing ireland, assisted by the welcome demise of the Catholic church. YMMV -

A classic London institution
Always found it very over-rate when I was working in Pimlico. People seems to think the shouty woman made up for distinctly average food.
Terry’s is ok, used to use that a lot as we had a garage on GSS. A friend was in there last week and said the set breakfast was enormous still.
There used to be a great one in Hildrith Street (sp?) at the bottom of Bedford Hill in Balham, Turkish family and he used to open at 05.00 so even with an early start you could get a decent fry.
Cafe of choice nowadays is the Kennington Cafe on the Vauxhall one way system. -
Friend of mine (Adam) was out drinking and going into London Bridge station when he bumped into a not massively close mate of his who drove a black cab. The cabbie was most insistent that he drop Adam home despite Adams protestations that he was fine on the train. Eventually Adam gets in the cab and after about 15 minutes the cabby goes “you’re still in blackheath?”, the answer being “no ive moved to south of Bromley “, resulting in a very quiet cab ride for the rest of the way

The wine section in my local Sainsbury’s. For some fucking bizarre reason they have stopped grouping all the red wine by country and just thrown them all together. There didn’t seem to be any discernible pattern, not even alphabetical.
How the fuck does that make it easy to find a specific wine you dozy fuckwads?
Doesn’t look like it’s twin plugged. Nicely done, but I’m another one who would’ve preferred originality, always liked those big tanked boxers.
