I sincerely hope that Labour get their act together and the turbulence of the past month quickly dissipates. They have much work to do in order to improve the lives of many people. I dread to think of the consequences should labour fail in doing so. My biggest problem with Starmer/Reeves is I'm not sure what the pair actually stand for? Apart that is from vague notions about growth.

Starmer shouldn't accept any of this free stuff. Anyone who has followed politics for the past 40 years or so must realise that the right wing press will crucify any Labour politician who steps even marginally out of line. Double standards are the norm and no tory politician would face any grief over something like this. How did Starmer not understand this? He seems baffled that people are pissed off about this and just how bad it looks. Perhaps some spad could suggest that he is a bit more circumspect in future?

The optics of this decision by Starmer/Reeves look bad. Why is this presented as a 'difficult decision'? Difficult for who exactly? A difficult decision would be appropriating the wealth of Britain's rentier economy and distributing it to lessen inequality. The profits made by the energy companies are obscene. The so called regulator has permitted a 10 per cent rise this winter for fuel. Why are we not angry about this?
My understanding of claiming for pension credit to access extra help necessitates the filling in of a 234 page booklet. Who wants to do that? -

Bang on! A minimalist workout is appropriate for me as a 65 year old.
It's really not worth killing yourself in order to build muscle over 50 years old. I enjoy training simply because I can get into the gym and out within 45 to 50 minutes. I work hard, I don't feel knackered afterwards and can manage a couple of bike rides in the week. Much winning. -
I'm a hard gainer when it comes to strength/muscle building. No point being a gym rat hour after hour. I can vouch for a minimalist workout 2/3 sets per body part with the last set taken to failure. It works and over the past 2 months
there has been some difference. Pendulum squats are a bastard though! -

I was always puzzled by Truss. She must, at least one time, have possessed some academic ability having attended Oxbridge. What on earth did she learn there? Surely one of the key points of a prestigious education is the ability to question alleged 'certainties' whether in personal or public life. I was puzzled and confused by her entire program and repelled by her ideological blinkered determination to persist with practices which commanded no intellectual support or validation. I wonder at the intellectual capacity and tortuous thought processes of someone who views herself (as a Conservative Prime Minister) as a guerrilla ideologist operating behind the rear lines of the establishment! Truly, a modern conservative politician is a strange beast to behold.

Yes, something of a word salad isn't it? Growth seems to be the ultimate panacea for our mainstream politicians. I expect that growth means that they can turn round and say ' look everyone's much better off'! I suspect that this justifies them in not taking the difficult choices that need to be made. Especially so given that rising inequality is a particular challenge.
