Just a bump to ask if anyone has any recommendations. We’re taking some teenagers in February and so hopefully will make use of their nocturnal hours to get some morning rides in. We’re going to be based in Adeje for the teenagers and I don’t think my fixed gear would be fun on the descents.

I saw it and set a timer for how long it would take to emerge here................

Bit of a bump, but an interesting read.
I was running drops with road brakes and a dummy rear. I’ve gone back to a bmx lever and drops for simplicity and on Bryan Chapman I loosened one of the road levers whilst pulling up hill. I’ve never liked the look of bull horns but just ordered some Cinelli Lola to see if they will give me simplicity and strength when climbing……….

This is one of the things I love about British audax, very few people know what’s going on. We’re all members of a niche cult with a few high priests who actually know and understand the rules and often only communicate via SAE. I love it.

They have increased the field size this year (8000??) and last time you still had a possibility of entering on 300KM (??) as a pre qualifier, I think from re reading the thread.

As we come towards the end of the audax season this year, is any one else planning on entering PBP in the new year for the 20th edition?

Actually starting at Guildhall 05:00, a little longer overall but what's a few extra KM in 1600?

48-19 was perfect

I did it in November, fixed, it's a lovely route.

Finished my fixed SR with Bryan Chapman, it's amazing how many hills you can forget over a few years.......
We also had pretty much all the Caterhams following the same route up in packs of five all day Saturday. Lovely to see the first few groups but increasingly annoying.

Yep, sorry I thought you were coming up from the south through Penderyn and on to Ystradfellte. The A470 can be a pain mainly from the "Valleys Commandos" motorbike gangs depending on what time you hit it, but it's often used by larger groups of the cycling clubs. The lower road on the map will be quieter and there are plenty of views around the loop to make up for it.

If you can go up a little further on the A470 and take this little road over the top of Penderyn the views down the valley and the wild horses make it worth while (there’s also often an ice cream van up there).

Brevet Cymru, I remembered the hills out of New Quay and the last climb before Chepstow but seemed to forgotten the rest from a few years ago…….

Have a look over the bridge into Wales, school holidays are a bit later and Brizzle prices should drop. Not too far to ride over to the start depending..........
