I had a new KMC 10 speed chain snap recently, but to be fair, it was because the tab on the RD mounting sleeve had snapped, which took the tension out of the mech and the tension out of the chain. As a result the chain drifted into the spokes and one of the side plates of the chain was sheared / sliced by the spokes.

I've never used one but have read about a 'rivnut' as being useful in such a situation.

It's a Dutch thing (I know, because I have a Batavus that weights 40kg and rides like a dream, and which has the Woods valve). One of these adapters will fix your problem: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274726413737?hash=item3ff6f865a9:g:ul4AAOSwKBBgjFGL

Pragmasis is a great source of security-related info, and their customer service is very good, too: https://securityforbikes.com/ . If you end up with a roller door for your garage, this would be a good idea to help secure it: https://www.screwfix.com/p/master-lock-garage-protector/2459t

I've routed a signboard in pine wood for a friend and need some thoughts on how to weatherproof it. The letters will painted in exterior gloss paint but I don't know whether to varnish the rest of of the board (yacht varnish?) or oil it, and if it's oil, what oil to use? It will be hung up outdoors so will get rained and snowed on (it's going to hang outside a house in Bulgaria, near the Black Sea). Other than varnish and oil are there any alternative solutions that would allow the natural wood colour to come through?

Does anyone have an idea how I can remove the circlip in my old Campy Record freehub? I've worked out that it's called a blind circlip, because it doesn't have an eye at either end that would allow one to use circlip pliers. Here's a photo of the thing in situ, and a stock photo from the Wiggle site that shows what they look like.

I'm putting up some floating shelves. The section of the Hafele bracket that goes into the wall is 60mm long. I want to use Fischer's Duopower plugs, but they come in 50mm and 80mm lengths. Should I use the 50mm or the 80mm?
Unfortunately the TA Nerius rings I have won't fit Chorus 10 speed (love Campag but hate their random changes of dimensions between the cranksets)!
