Kinlins, x31t. Record hubs. That's kinda my question. I want to build a set of wheels which I'm going to really enjoy and which will last me a long time. If the CX rays are worth it for longevity and sheer quality I'll go for them but if not then as you say I might as well go with something round at half the price. Some people swear by them, trying to work out whether they are worth it. Usage is standard road riding but the build is a lovely Tommasini with modern kit that I want to get the best I can for.

Currently trying to decide whether to go with the cx rays or something cheaper/less fancy. Are they worth it? Which other spokes should I use if not? I'm building myself and I'm a wheelbuilding virgin (take that whichever way you like) so probably not laser.

So my current shafts are fairly rusty, should I repair or use as an excuse to buy the latest carbon fiber numbers?

That's what I mean. If it's badged as a cinelli, has features of my Tommasini and uses that BB shell it would be v tough to identify.

It's weirdly very much like a debadged Tommasini or something. Same brake stays, lugs and BB shell. Did anyone make generic fake versions of these Italian frames?

Managed to pick up some cable stops however they didn't come with any bolts. Has anybody got any M5 12mm bolts going spare? With the same head as the photo. Cheers!

Just put the Tange Seiki Passage on and it has definitely tidied things up. I used PTFE on the threads instead of chopping the fork alla @Flandria as I didn't want to restrict myself from going back to a taller stem at a later date.

In other news the polishing kit has arrived for the bench grinder so I can get on with cleaning up the hubs before regreasing. I've also relacquered the carbon bits for both derailleurs, so another coat on those and then I can polish them up too. Most of the bits are here and are nearly fully reconditioned/cleaned. I just need to wait to put them back together again. Currently looking for a 2nd hand EF jersey to go with the handlebars but they're like hen's teeth (the one in the back of the photo).

I'm sure this has been done to death over the years so apologies in advance! Is the normal wisdom still brass over alloy nipples? I know Cycleclinic likes alloy well enough. I'd prefer to go for black and the options are less for black in brass.

yeah noticed they were heavier, 100g over a wheelset so I might go for sapims.

I've got the option to use either dt swiss aero comp or sapim cx ray when building my wheels (kinlin xr31t rims, Campag record hubs) both at cost price. The sapim's are a bit more expensive, any particular difference between the two?
