I've really found it helpful being able to read the temp, before hand you could do everything else carefully and consistently but it was always a bit hit and miss with the temp. I've definitely noticed that there was a sour taste to the coffee before hand which has now gone.
It's pretty simple, it's just a dimmer switch that goes on the pump so you can drop the pressure right down for the preinfusion.
What age is yours? Apparently the more standard pump doesn't take so well to the dimmer however I'm fortunate to have the better one as standard.
Lots of info on the Gaggia page of Coffeeforums.co.uk

Thanks for the link. Gmbn have done a couple of videos on it, basically downhill good uphill not so good. Although that was on some pretty slack bikes to start with so that would have an impact. It's a case of ride it and see when the bike arrives really! Fortunate to have a family member who works in the LBS(kirroughtree) so could get out some 29ers to try.

Anyone with a Santa Cruz Chameleon? I've bought a 2nd hand '19 with 27.5" wheels, 140mm fox 34 forks and xtr/xt gears and brakes etx. Can't wait for it to arrive. Wondering about eventually changing over to 29 however not sure about effect on geometry, especially seattube angle. Any thoughts? It's a medium and I'm 5.10 but I'm expecting that with a 60/70mm stem it will be fine. Not necessarily ideal but a great bike and hardly the time to be quibbling over what bikes are for sale! Any advice for getting the most out of it/kit that really works well on the Chameleon? Cheers!

Evening all, it seems like everything I was hoping to get this year has suddenly become crazy expensive/unavailable! We've been intending to get a dog and a mountain bike for me for awhile.... Just my luck we waited until the middle of a pandemic! Wondering if anyone has a decent MB for sale, ideally a few years old and with 29ers. Preferably hardtail, trail type thing not so much of the DH. Budget around £1200 (poss slightly more) but to include price of delivery. Go on, help a fella achieve one of his goals for this year! I might just have to name the bike Fido and pretend it's a dog whilst I'm at it...

The classic I have already has the rancilio wand which improves things but I'm looking forward to better stream through the PID.
previous to this I had the ROK espresso and using hand ground coffee with that made the biggest difference, it is an old cliche but the grinder really does make the most difference.

Started to read through the last 4 months of comments (since I was last on this thread) but didn't get very far.... Just got myself a Rok EspressoGC and Knock Feld47 to replace my old cheaper grinder and Moka pot. Present to myself after a long year setting up the business. Not the most vintage year for starting a business... Grinder hasn't arrived yet however so far very please with the Rok. Even with basic 1:2.5 at 18g with 15secs pre infusion and around 28 secs dose time I'm pleased with the results. Saw someone talking about struggling to get a decent crema, I'm going to try a naked portafilter and see if that helps with crema.

New (to me) Chameleon. Just arrived, can't wait to get it out on the trails. 27.5, 140mm travel, mix of xtr and xt. Lovely.
