Adventure/trail bike questions to the owners.
Anyone owned any of the following or similar Transalp, KLE, XTZ, Dominator etc?
I thinking of getting another mid weight adventure bike. I want to be at around the £1500 or less ideally. Anyone owned any of the above. Any ones to steer clear of? I know the XTZ might be just out of my price range this is also why I haven't listed the DR as well. The Transalp looks an interesting prospect and can be had for cheap.
It will be used for clocking the miles but also quite a bit of off road which will get heavier at times hopefully.
My thoughts are if the price starts to get up towards the £2000 mark I might as well get another Himmi but you get more precious about throwing it at the scenery the more the price increases.
Also if anyone has anything and fancies a trade with a ZZr600 let me know. It's just had a recent MOT and needs nothing.

You looking at the 411 or 450 Himmi?
CooperB are the go to place if you are looking to buy a new one.
Just my two pence worth is that the the 411 is a great all rounder. Such a good riding position on them. Great torque, great off road capabilities. Ideal for new and experienced riders alike. Super cheap and easy to work on. I got 90mpg on mine. They lack a bit of top end though so motorways are a bit of a chore and also lack a bit of grunt for a quick overtake on the lanes. A nice used 411 will be £3000.
If you are looking at the newer Transalp I assume they will be around £10grand? They will do everything better apart from general off roading. They cost a lot more though and maintenance and spares will be a lot more expensive. It may possibly be a bike you hold onto longer though. Ideal for longer trips away down to Europe for example.
450 Himmi is a bridge between the two but not necessarily the best of both world.
If it was me I would get the 411 use it for a couple of years and from there you can decide if you want to keep it or then upgrade.

I know what you mean. Standard tyres are the biggest problem when you start going off road on them and it gets even moderately muddy. They do off road well in standard trim, I ride with a big group who have them and they have all sorts of mods such as lift kits and none of the upgrades are hard or expensive to do. You don't really need to though, apart from a decent sump guard.
I got rid of mine and went for a DR200 but if I had the money I would have kept it as the Himalayan was a better all rounder and I do miss it to be fair. -
Mate they are brilliant bikes. I can't say enough good things about them. They are cheap reliable go anywhere bikes. Parts are cheap, and so easy to repair. Yeah 5-10bhp would go amiss but it's not the end of the world.
People love to hate them. Yeah they can't compare to a T7 for example but they aren't in the same price bracket. -

It won't even last a few years more in reality as if you start wearing it now then the '5 year' guideline will come before the '20 year' expiry.
I had a Condor that I just couldn't part with for years and stupidly I even had a crash in it and used it for a bit longer. A lot of helmets don't fit my head and I didn't want to take the punt on a new Arai. Anyway I ended up going to a few shops and found an older stock HJC IS17 and it's as safe as they got at the time and was only £100. That does make it easier to stomach if it has to be changed every 5 years.

Singlespeed wheels.
Mavic XM319 rims on DMR revolver hubs. Some of the best simple singlespeed wheels as they are QR front and boltled axle rear meaning they are great for not slipping in the dropout. Wheels have been used with the odd mark/dink on the rim but they run true and the bearings are good. I have installed and 18 tooth Halo clickster which is a great high engagement point freewheel like the white industries version.
I will also include with the wheels a singlespeed kit to get you going. This will include 175mm Shimano XT cranks, on one 32t chainring and a KMC singlespeed chain. The chainring is a spare I had and not one I was running but the chain and freewheel are very good condition.
If you have any questions or need additional pictures just let me know.
Looking for £130 can post if needed.
I have the singlespeed MTB frame these came off in the other section as well.
What did you think of them? I looked at the Funduro but it had quite a few niggly issues that seen to arise. Same with the Pegaso. One came for sale locally for cheap. I should have went and checked it out.
