Can someone explain to me what the appeal of these measurement watches is like vivosmart / fitbit / etc.? Is it just blokes being gadget nerds?
I need to measure my HR when doing zoned training. Probably don't need to explain why on a cycling forum. Would be easier than chest strap, and can include GPS data without my phone.

How did that happen? Bike crash?
I tried one in an Apple shop the other day and was underwhelmed. Want an accurate HR watch, but the demo one I tried just couldn't get it right. The new straps are OK but I discovered one wrist is slightly narrower than the other, so the old adjustable strap fit better (for me). Anyway, taken off my wish list. Curse Apple and their boring minimalism. Let's have an OG iMac or clamshell iBook style watch already.

Align II arrived and is just right. Doesn't feel heavy, looks to be well made, actually an XL size, cradle is not height adjustable but fits securely, and the straps (again fixed position) sit well without touching the ears. Simple aesthetics but not at all ugly.
Would have liked the shell to come a bit closer to the tops of the ears as there's a bit of a gap there (silly really - seems too large for just sunglasses arms), and lower around the back of the head too. Oh and the clip on the neck strap is right in the centre which is a bit uncomfy - would be better slightly to the side to avoid Adam's apple. Other than that, for £35 very good.

Any opinions on this for a cheapish smarter watch?

Another Q: I want to use my phone to navigate around a new city (planned a route on Google Maps - trying to scout a nice route with smooth roads) but don't have or want to use a handlebar mount. Can I just set the Google Maps directions running and use some bluetooth earphones (or one, to be safer), and have the phone in my bag? Should be fine, right?

Wow now that's a real tank. Looks like something from a cyberpunk film's costume trunk. Is this what's going on?

Crazy stuff. I'm getting too old and out of touch.

Glad to hear you like yours! How come you use the lighter strings? Just feel or something else? I heard that the body and neck are designed for the tension that the medium strings put on them, but is that BS?
I'd like to try the £5 D'Addario's first - If I break some better to with the cheaper ones. I'm not sure my amateur ear will be able to tell a big difference, but I would like to know how some new Elixir ones sound, as the ones on the guitar now are definitely a bit done for.

That custom made one on the last page is really lovely. Well done. 12 string sounds great, too.
What are people's opinions on the Taylor GS Mini (standard original sitka spruce / sapele version - no electronics)? Is it worth swapping the Micarta saddle for Tusq? And swap the bridge pins too? I picked one up recently for a good price in great condition, but just considering little upgrades. Going to try swapping the worn out Elixir stings for D'Addario's too. I have an old entry-level Fender dread, and this sounds so much better. I don't know much about these things, apologies.
