Hi all.

Inspected the Cannondale seat collar on a second hand CAAD10 I bought, and it's a piece of poop, to put it lightly. Uneven on the inside with fine ridges running horizontally, which have bitten into the frame slightly. Not nice at all.

I have a Salsa Lip Lock which is perfectly smooth on the inside, but unfortunately the closest to 30.9 they make is 32 and I tried it and it's too large. Shame as it's an absolute eye-sore 90s MTB components pink, and would surely be a theft deterrent.

So: Looking for a good quality, non-Cannondale, 30.9 collar. Does one exist?

I know many people will have no problem with the C'dale collar, but to me it looks like crap and I want something better.

I enjoy his videos, even though I don't really know what he's talking about. It amazes me how people send him junky stuff to repair and he goes to so much effort to polish a turd, all the while verbally annihilating it. Nice how the manufacturers take notice, too. Hopefully will make them sort the issues out. Never imagined I would need to learn about bearings, but at least now I know not to buy ceramic ones. And when he does the x-ray thing on carbon frames and points out all the places there are holes from the shitty manufacturing <3

Anyway, very happy to see more threaded BBs.

Just watched a video about the Tarmac SL7. Cannot afford but interesting to see threaded BB. Is this the general direction other racing bikes are going, too? I do hope so. And was all that stuff about press fit BBs being more stiff and enabling better power transfer nonsense, or has the frame design just evolved now they so they can have the power but also the threaded BB? I do not know the science but am interested in the thinking behind it. Awaits knowledge with dunce cap

Keep an eye on eBay as they sometimes appear there cheap. I just got one with a few tiny grazes for £60 -_- You can save the search and it automatically sets up a daily email alert.

Semi-silly question: When swapping out drop bars, where do you put the shifters? Let them hang down, ask someone to hold them, masking tape them to the top tube...? Will letting them hang down place strain on the frame's cable stops etc?

Solved. I am a fool. Thank you. I saw the button but didn't realise it went through the lever to the other side. Now that it's fixed I can fully appreciate the difference with the last new group set I tried (with Shimano 105 R7020 levers), where when I pulled them to brake they were so squishy and had no reach adjustment so I was just pulling the levers into my fingers. Maybe I was screwing up somewhere there too, but it arrived like that brand new. These feel much better.

Ah yes the button on the side? I just read that in the manual yep.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, now it's in my hands it does look and feel good. The Campag BB30 adaptor seems decent too. Still fiddling with it all.

Made some progress with this today. Needs a steerer trim, second cage, and want to swap the bars, and that's probably it. Have a second-hand black Antares 00 incoming (was a bargain), but I quite like this blue Test R3. Open Paves on the Zondas went on lovely and smooth.

I have had in the past, several pairs, but sold them, stupidly. Very, very beautiful.
