What’s peoples thoughts on cycling with a mask given the current transmission rates in London?
Did a loop from Lewisham to Lambeth Bridge today (first time going out in 2021) and got a bit prang counting the amount of pedestrians and other cyclists I came in any kind of proximity of when the figures say 1/30 could be carriers 😳

Addison Lee van driver failed to stop at a give way near Westminster Abby. I just about managed to avoid the bonnet but still smashed my left hand on his wing mirror - which has now ballooned and swelled up and I scraped a good few layers of skin the top of my shoulder.
I think I scared him enough to not make the same mistake again when I got up and opened his van door and dragged him out the van (resisting the urge to lamp him) before berating him verbally in the road until two police officers came over, who happened to be nearby.
They took details and said they’d be in touch.

At the set of lights in front of the Marquis of Granby pub in New Cross - heading towards lewisham.
I’m approaching and the lights are red, I pulled into the ride hand lane at the speed of moving traffic- no inconvenience to the car behind me (if I was a ped, motorbike or car there wouldn’t have been an issue). If you don’t move into the right hand lane it means you have to cross two lanes..
Guy in the merc behind me pulls into the left hand lane and starts to ask why I did that blah blah, eventually ends up saying he’d slap me.
I didn’t really say much back but I couldn’t help but laugh.
So sad that man doesn’t understand the rules of the road and that just because I’m on a bike it means I can’t hold a place in the road even if I’m riding at the speed of traffic.
Sad.

I often get the piss taken out of me at work for being a full kit wanker.
I do a 30km round trip 5 days a week, which takes about 35 mins depending on traffic. It does sound a big mad to spend 10 mins either side of that getting changed. But if I was going to do a 5-10km run - I’m not going to do it in my shirt and trousers am I?
My kit is:
3x short tights
3x jerseys (zip off long sleeves)
2x merino thermal for winter
1x gore waterproof jacket / jersey for very wet
2x sets of leg warmersI could ride in civilian clothes but then it would be super sweaty and gross and generally just uncomfortable, I’d still have to change out of whatever I rode in when I have a flannel wash anyway (no luxury showers).
Wearing cycling gear is just so much more comfortable and practical. Especially in the rain.

Longtime listener first time caller.
Going up Loampit Hill in Lewisham, ped runs across the road when the lights on green - missed him by a hair! Then 50 meters further up the hill - On coming Van driver starts to turn off totally misjudging my speed and ends up stopping half way across the lane - then 50 meters further on a Merc driver does the same but actually makes the right turn.
I must remember not to wear my invisibility cloak when riding!
Everything after that was fine except for a slipping Thomson seatpost that I can’t seem to fix 😞🤷🏻♂️

Edit - Answered it myself.
