Almost done, build cost at £170.
Just needs new pads and cassette. I thought the one that came on it was ok but it skips like mad. Also, didn’t want to put my prized uncut surly bars on it, but turns out finding other bars that were 22.2mm clamp to fit the old school bmx stem were hard to find... so I bought some for a motorbike instead? They feel ok but maybe the bar/stem situation could be better. I’m not keeping it so not gonna change them now.
Went with cx comps, bmx grips, a nod to my past riding DH with the middleburn chainring and kept the weird back to front old shimano thumb Shifter that does the rear derailleur from the LHS. Need to find some sort of fruit basket for the front... suggestions welcome!

Edit: Now updated to include anything I'm playing about with. Including bikes of most wheel sizes, mainly retro mtbs though
First up: Specialized Hard Rock
Pretty sure it's a 1990, picked it up off the street courtesy of @JackSloan - his neighbour was chucking it. It had no front wheel so I brought one off another bike and was able to ghost it the 2 miles home.I mean, it's pretty messed up and arguably not worth the effort, but I like the colour scheme and have enough parts at home to make it worthwhile. No idea whether I'll keep it.
Quite wanted to go Singlespeed on it, but then discovered these weird dropouts and I also like the look of the thumbie that came on it. Looks like the original gear shifter broke and was replaced by this original Shimano Deerhead thing.
Chainrings are oval / wrecked, so might go 1 x 7 on it I guess. Got some bits on the way, a 1" BMX stem and small bits and bobs. In the spares box I've got a black brooks copy and a fluted set tube that is hopefully long enough (needs shimming), as well as some unused surly risers (need cut down).

Please read this carefully if you're interested!
Arguably not the best forum for this, but I am in London so let's see.
I've had this less than a year. Previous owner did a quick resto on the fully stock original bike which according to him was a barn find. This is a really reluctant sale as it's the most fun bike I have to ride, but I "accidentally" picked up that freebie rockhopper last night and this has to go to make space.
When I bought it last July, it had just had a brand new grips, brake pads, chain, cassette and full cable set. I will replace the inner brake cables again before collection, the others are still good. I myself have fitted new plastic BMX pedals and Halo Twin rail tyres. Unfortunately, the original front V-brake broke so has been replaced with something a little newer. I was always very surprised how light the bike is overall.
PRICE REDUCED 3/6/20 to £300
This bike is 100% fully ready to ride out the door in Hackney (collection preferred). Note I'm selling it with the original Kore stem/bar combo, not the riser bar combo shown (just posted that photo so you can see the different possibilities - afraid I'm keeping those bars).
Spec:
1998 GT Zaskar Medium frame 18” ball burnished frame 6061 alloy
Front wheel - mavic rim, GT hub (my favourite part on the bike - oversized polished guy)
Rear wheel - mavic rim, Shimano STX RC hub
Crankset - Shimano STX RC triple chainring
Front mech - Shimano LX
Rear mech - Shimano XT (in outstanding condition)
Shifters - Shimano LX
Brake levels - Shimano LX I think (need to check)
Seat post — Kore
Stem — Kore
Brakes - Shimano V-Brakes (unsure exact model)
Bars — Kore
Grips — DMR Deathgrip (one bolt missing)
Pedals - Federal BMX plastic
Seat — WTB
Tyres - Halo twin railsCondition:
Frame is excellent overall with the exception of a small dent in the top tube and the decals are flaking a bit as they're so old.
There's some tape on the saddle
last seller thought it might need a new headset before too long. I haven't thought that but thought I should mention
One of the bolts on the deathgrips is missing. I've been riding it like that for months but you might prefer to replace it.
Rims have very very little wear and are like new. Wheels are are as true as I can get them personally.
No play in BB, HS or either of the hubs.
I'd say the condition of the parts is quite exceptional given the age, but obviously it is 22 years old so there are the usual cosmetic marks here and there. -

It's quite specific, what I'm after, but who knows maybe I'll get lucky. Trying to find a silver quill stem for 1" forks, 25.4mm clamp diameter. Tricky bit is finding one with a bit of length to it as well as some rise. Can come collect within Zone 3 or will pay postage for the right one!
Thanks, Alban

Hey, thanks for all the messages.
A few updates based on recent posts:
- it's now based in Hackney, I didn't find a seller before my move so it came with me
- they're 26" wheels
- 18" frame (bb centre to top of seat tube)
- 21.5" TT length
- I can measure more lengths if people want.
- I've always thought it was slightly too large for me, I'm 5'9". Previous owner was 6'2" and it was a little large for him.
- Price is firm.

Hey, got this 2010 Medium size Lapierre Spicy 216 under my bed and it simply never gets used. Shame as it was my pride and joy at one point. It's ready to ride out the door (although not sure with which pedals, I'll have to dig some out - no promises there). Last time I rode it was last summer and it felt as good as ever to ride back then, the bike climbs really well for one with that much travel.
It's got all the wear of a bike that old, but is mechanically sound and chock full of high end parts generally in great condition (although a little muddy/dusty). Shove a dropper tube on there and it'd be so much more fun. . This frame was way ahead of its time in terms of the slack head angle and longer wheelbase.
So off the top of my head, it's basically;
Lapierre Spicy 216 Med with Fox Float R shock (serviced in the last three years). 6" travel with sag indicator
CHris king headset
Fox Float R forks, 6" travel, no marks on the stanchions (these go on ebay for about £200 alone atm)
Hope Evo2 hubs laced to tubeless Stans ZTR Flowex rims
Saint rear disc 180mm rotor, goodridge hose
XT front disc, 200mm rotor (spare pads somewhere I think too)
XT mech, XT cranks I think although they're a bit worn.
SDG saddle
Spank bars and nukeproof stemIf someone was bothered it would be worth a lot more in parts, I think for £350 that it's worth it just for the wheels, forks and the XT groupset :P
Come give it a ride (at a distance) in peckham.

Some absolute so-and-so on ebay sent me some 700c wheels yesterday, 2 weeks after I'd bought them and despite the advert listing them as 26".
Desperately in need of some 26" wheels for this Courier Comp xmas present build I've got going on. Will pay cash (budget £40-50) or you can have these 700c ones as a swap (Mavic CXP22 rims on Shimano hubs - look decent/true). Original listing for those is here:
I'll get a refund for them if no-one on here has any to swap.
