So I managed to sneak off from work a little early today to have a little bimble over to crystal palace as the weather was too good to not head out.
Firstly, I would like to say haw lovely Herne Hill and Dulwich is. I only go to the area for track and Iβm too tired afterwards to ever explore, so it was nice getting out round the area (and getting really figging jealous of everyone who lives there!).
I went for a different approach this week. I've never tried pushing big gears up hills as i usually wimp out at the site of them, so i thought why not try for a change.
I had 2 attempts at the segment:
1st Attempt - 52 x 13 = 106.142" - Was Ok ish
2nd Attempt - 52 x 11 = 125.440" - Absolute Grind π¬Didnβt realise how exponential changing the rear gears is when we're talking this little teeth. π
I'm actually quite glad I went for big gears this time because I was greeted half way up by a stationary royal mail van with its door wide open meaning I had to squeeze through the gap.
This also happened on the 2nd attempt with someone trying (and failing) to park their car.Anyway, nice segment @Ruserius ππΌ and fair play @Josh01 one hell of a time ππΌ
Iβm sure my dodgy knees wont thank me tomorrow.

Oh and there is one last thing..........
I cheated (sorry):

You were definitely one with the bike with that! Fair play @Josh01! ππ»
If I can get away from work this week, I'll head down and give it ago, but I'm already under the impression that there's no beating that beast of an effort! ππ»
Maybe @Biggles567 will give you a run for your money. π -

Well for this one I was in the drops as it wasn't too steep but for point hill I was on the tops. That middle section was an absolute grind!
I really like my CAAD10 frame actually... nice geometry to ride, very stiff but also really one of the lightest alloy frames you can get.
My only frustration is the short drop outs... Makes the range of gearing really short with only 1 chain.
So unfortunately for this reason, I'm thinking of replacing it.
I'm currently in discussion with 8bar about a TMPLHOF Team Edition frame, but if not I'm after a Cinelli Parallax Charcoal in 58.
So if you know anyone... π HahaLooking forward to next week's challenge!

Yeah it's a great idea and has been really good fun! Thanks for organising it!π
For me, It been something fun to challenge yourself on each week since all races and events are cancelled at the moment.
Even though I didn't read the challenge properly (Fool!!)..... I've have quite enjoyed trying to beat @Biggles567 's time each week. haha
I had a crack at it this morning.... 38 Seconds @ 48x16.

@Lucybee - Ohhhhh..... So its biggest gear wins? I thought it was fastest time wins and then if it's drawn, biggest gear wins. π
There's me trying to find the right ratio to smash it as hard and fast as I can π Haha -

Haha went there today, was really busy but that could just be because it's easter Monday.
Most people were pretty good about it, even cheering me on which was a nice touch.
I'll say early morning and a bigger gear ratio than what you should have done point hill with is key.
Oh and watch out for the half way speed bump! -

Apologies for the late reply, I have been enjoying the lovely weather with a nice BBQ and many a beverage :)
So, tough choice for me this week... I had a few nice and pretty / monstrously steep segments around the area in mind but when looking into them theyβre all either too short to create a segment or slightly unsuitable for people doing efforts on.
Therefore, Iβm going for the slightly less severe but slightly longer Alexandra Palace North Side because your treated with great view at the top after your effort so its worth it :)
Here is the segment I created:

Good luck all!
