Is there a consensus on a good style of handlebar for a singlespeed commuter retro MTB?

This came with 56cm flat bars and I'm not sure if they feel quite right when beanzing it uphill in 42×16.

Tried to search but mostly found threads about those trendy loop bars for off-roading.

Could just get some bar ends, of course.

You can fit a full mudguard to a suspension fork. The fork crown doesn't move.

Please let the record show that Specialized “Plug & Play” hidden fender mounts are absolutely shite. The little tabs aren't long enough to be secured properly by the grub screws in the fork. Super glue to the rescue...

Merida Silex CF2 frame, used in the Silex+ 6000(£2650; road.cc review), Silex 7000 (£2650) and Silex+ 8000-E (£3250) gravel bikes, via seatstay bridge

Not 100% sure they are the same frame. Very similar, but there are one or two differences I see. The chainstay has more of a curve on the Tifosi, whereas the headtube on the Carbonda is more angled where it meets the downtube.

Might just be variation in frame size and image angle though.

Mentioned over in the gravel bike thread, along with an horrendous new nickname, "grammuter", the Specialized Sirrus series of hybrids. The Sirrus X 5.0 (£1599) has a carbon frame with a seatstay bridge.

All seem to have the same frame. The Sirrus X 5.0 mentions racks in the product description, suggesting you use the seat stay bridge, but it might be a mistake: they use the same description as for the aluminium models, which have rack lugs.

Article says it is £2,499 for the frameset, but I think they mean the complete bike.

GT Grade Carbon bike promo pics show seat collars with rack mounts. Not every pic shows the same, so unclear if this clamp is standard. But another to add to the list for people who want a rack for their floaty carbon bike.
