Abandoned Univega Neuvo Sport
Looked fine at first glance but it needed new wheels, the quill was cracked, plus a bunch of other small things. Thankfully I had everything laying around. It's now a 2x8 friction with Nitto bars and quill, new-ish 700c wheels withe some plush 28mm tires and fenders off an old Phillips. Nice mix of ratty and functional.
Total spent: around $25

Yeah! I was the one who found the Zip frameset in a coop shortly after I found my MB1 in a different coop. I called him up and bought it for him for $75. You can probably see an older set-up of my MB1 on his insta.

My old MB1 I picked up as a frameset from a bike coop for a tenner. It's got a mish mash of various Deore/LX/XT bits and some nice Salsa and Ringle bits

That wasn't my goal. I just wanted a thread where people can post pictures of their down and dirty, sometimes downright garbage bike finds that they 180-ed and turned into running bikes. It doesn't matter if it's a bottom shelf Trek or a barn-find Colnago, the only requirement is a trashy before pic and an after pic, tho stories are encouraged

I don't know if this already exists but I want to start a convo showing the before pictures, where the bike is trashed, dirty, or straight-up abandoned, and the after pics of the steed you granted a new life. I've done a ton of these so I figure other have too. I'll try to keep it one bike per comment.

I kinda does and kinda doesn't. You either get two points of high chain slack or two points of just-a-little-too-much-but-not-terrible chain tight. Had a friend that ran it tighter and had to explain to him why he was running through bearings like crazy.

I don't buy new bikes except sometimes when I do.
