Took my dog in his backpack for a spin around Regents this morning before my commute, you wouldn't believe how considerate all drivers were when passing.
Drivers seem happy to kill a cyclist when it's just a person, but add a dog in a backpack and all of a sudden it humanises the cyclist. Go figure.

I fitted a set of Kinesis Fend Off mudguards to a new winter bike, really impressed by the quality of them. Needed a bit of modifying to get the front closer to the wheel, but that's mostly because I'm running 28mm tyres in a fork designed for up to 40mm tyres.
The one annoying thing is that Kinesis supply flaps with the guards, but no mounting hardware. Seems like a weird place to save money as it's really irritating to the consumer.

I'm a big supporter of loving the bike you ride, and if the steel RLT has your eye it'll be hard to suppress the feeling of regret every time you ride the Ribble.
That being said, the RLT is priced crazily, the sum of parts doesn't justify the extra expense in my eyes. Steel is nice, but with the right tyre choice you'll hardly feel the difference. I think the CGR alu is the best bang for buck. Although the steel geometry looks like it'll be a bit snappier for road riding.
Don't stress about press fit bottom brackets, just get a good mechanic to set it up for you and it won't creak. Worst case scenario get a Wheels MFG thread together press fit BB.

Thanks. Next step is to get some tan wall Gravelkings for some off road exploration. Probably need to get a 34t inner ring though, 36-30 is a bit tall.
Also unsure about the 160mm rear rotor. Had a dicey moment coming down a hill into an intersection today where I locked up the rear and nearly skidded into the path of a car. This is my first disc brake bike so I'm still adjusting to the braking, but it feels like a 160 rear rotor is overkill for road riding.

Finally built up my "gravel" bike, although it's in disguise as a roadie at the moment.
Picked up a 2018 Genesis Datum frame at a 50% discount then built it up (courtesy of SBC) with R8070 and Hunt 4season gravel wheels.
Currently with 28mm Pirelli 4S and kinesis mudguards but I'm going to pick up some 35mm Gravelking SK tyres to explore a bit off-road.

@Thrasher I knew I was forgetting to add something to the post.
Tried to get a photo of the wear, you can see a bit of concavity but it's very minor

Time to fund a new winter bike purchase, so clearing out the man cave of bits and pieces.
SOLD Dura Ace 7850 10 speed rear wheel. In great condition, hub is still silky smooth. I moved to 11 speed some time ago and this wheel has sat in the shed for ages. Rims have plenty of use, wear limit indicator is still looking good. I'll throw in a lightly used 6700 11-28 cassette, and you can have the old Schawlbe One 25mm tyre and tube as well. Can be converted to 11 speed by machining off 1mm from the freehub body: http://benmanson.com/review/7900_to_11/7900_to_11.htm
SOLD Dura Ace 9000 11 speed rear wheel. In good condition, hub was serviced in 2017 but could use a light regrease (easy to do on your own). Rims have some wear, but I'd happily ride these for another 10,000km without worry.
£15 Continental GP4000II 25mm tyre. Approximately 1000km use, heaps of life still. The tyres are too tight on my DT Swiss rims so changing punctures was a nightmare - hence the sale.
SOLD 5700 11-28 cassette (10 speed). Moved to 11 speed before using up all my spare cassettes. This is new in box.
SOLD Ultegra 6700 brake. Taken off bike for new groupset. Good condition, I'll throw in some unused Dura ace pads and a near new inner cable.
£2 Morgan Blue race oil. 80% left, awesome low friction lube. I've started waxing my chains so all the old lubes must go.
£5 Muc-Off Team Sky Hydrodynamic chain lube with UV torch. Pretty great lube, just a bit messy for my liking compared to waxing the chain. 75% remaining.
SOLD Dura ace 7850 front skewer. Perfect condition. Best QR skewers on the market.
£10 BB90 Enduro bearings (x2) for SRAM cranksets. Unused, still in wrappers.
Pickup preferred from N1 (especially for wheels) but can post at buyer's expense. Paypal preferred.
Cheers,
Alex. -

Maybe 2000km of use. I changed to a disc brake bike for winter so had to replace the shifters.
Never been crashed or dropped (I think), only a couple minor scuffs on the bottom of the levers.
Hoods covers are in good nick, a fresh pair from ebay and these puppies would feel like new.
£85 posted or pickup from N1.
Set of 52-36 6800 rings. In very good condition with little teeth wear. Swapped to compact rings for a gravel bike build. £50 posted
Pair of Rapha Shadow leg warmers in medium. No idea why I bought these - I hate riding in the rain. £40 posted
Di2 in line connector (Shimano EW-JC200 E-Tube 2 Port Junction) came on my Tarmac, swapped out for a wireless unit. £10 posted
Garmin flush out front mount. Official Garmin mount with ability to mount an additional battery pack underneath for Edge 1030 models. New in box, too tight to mount on aerofly bars with a chunky Zipp stem. £25 posted
