It was indeed from a man in the pub, the same man who gave us free access to his 350 acre wood to exercise our evil pack of dogs, he is a thoroughly good man! Mrs B is currently doing double backflips and I am committed to about 4 hours of cleaning the damned thing to my standards tomorrow. I shall post pictures when it is gleaming. How is it possible that I can get this much car for less than the cost of a ratty MX5?

Dammits suggestion that I should buy a 3.0i Z4 with 90k on the clock (rather than an MX5) was clearly a daft and impractical idea.
Therefore, it would appear that I have bought a 3.0i Z4 with 55k on the clock. It is covered in dust from sitting in a garage for the last year, but the paint is mint underneath and everything works perfectly. It even has the super-duper optional wheels.

I shall share, presuming the purchase goes ahead. It is quite difficult to negotiate with a local rich person in the pub, said motor is his (unused) toy. You will probably approve.....
Dramatic Hammer: yep, there appear to be a few loved earlier MX5s around, but the later models which She Who Must Be Obeyed wanted tend to be somewhat shop soiled. I did 160miles and 7 cars on Wednesday, it was depressing.

The search for the new Mrs Baldmobile continues, so far it has been miserable. What makes people think that a total shed of an MX5 is worth £5.5k? It appears that the presence of any paint on an MX5 is optional.... On the brighter side, I have found a car, if the bugger will sell it to me, it isn't an MX5.

How do you know?
I doubt there is much left saving, after 10 years being driven by She Who Must Be Obeyed it is in the same condition as me, knackered. If the clutch allows me to limp it to the garage tomorrow I shall check if it will pass the MOT, if it does, £608 for the clutch. Otherwise, crusher here we come....

The Mrs Baldmobile, Volvo C70, appears to be on the way to the scrapper, replacement clutch costing more than value of said ancient barge. Having got rid of No1 daughter, it would seem to be time for 2 less seats. With £5k as a limit an MX5 seems the obvious choice, but which variant? The 2.0 appeals, because biggest engine, but what is the opinion of you experts? Anything I should be wary of when buying which would cost squillions to fix?

Yep, it would seem that everything happens for a reason, even wasting a day of my life looking at crap cars. I absolutely love the Z4.
Anyway, she might be an older model, but she remains elegant and scrubs up well. But enough of Mrs B, after 6 hours of cleaning a car has emerged from beneath the dirt....
