I've tried putting a bit of grease in there but doesn't seem to have done anything, though maybe I'm not putting grease in the right place. Will certainly give it another go later on.

So just finished my first build yesterday, but I've run into some trouble with the shifters. Initially it was just the left shifter but now has happened on both sides.

Essentially the thumb-shifter isn't catching the little divots in the index ring, meaning that it doesn't click whenever I try to shift.

I've already put some oil in there to see if that would improve the situation but hasn't done anything. It seems like the problem is that the index ring just hasn't fully rebounded to the right position or something, but not really sure if that makes sense as I've no experience trying to overhaul shifters.

I realise it's probably unlikely that this problem can be fixed without requiring an overhaul of the shifters, which is really annoying because I literally just put the cabling through! But, said I'd post on here anyway in case anyone has seen this before and knows of a way to sort it out short of a full overhaul.

Selling a few bits that I bought for a build/repair but now have no use for.

• Campag 1" threaded Mirage headset. In good nick, wasn't able to use it myself because the stack height was too high. I believe the height is 36mm and the threading is English. Some small signs of corrosion on the crown race but bearings and everything else are fine. £18

• Chorus 10sp front derailleur, band on. Bought it as part of a groupset on here a while back but needed braze-on so selling off the other bits. Few scrapes and so on but should work fine. Sold

• BNIB KMC 9sp Gold Chain. Bought it for a rat bike before deciding that the bike itself needs to be retired. Sold

Collection either from my work near Piccadilly or possibly near Finsbury Park station depending on the time. Can post but prices listed are net of postage. Cash preferred, Paypal is also fine but will need to work out any additional costs with that via PM.

As above. Looking for decent quality parts but can't afford anything crazy.
The headset I've got right now is something like 36.5mm and I need a stack height that's shorter than that. Looks like it's not too far off so maybe even a little shorter would work.

Looking for some reasonably priced bits for a new build:

1. Set of cheap Campag brake calipers. Got a 10sp Centaur group on the way so ideally something to match but I'm not too fussy once the price is good.

2. 100mm quill stem with 26 clamp, preferably in black to match other bits on the bike.

3. Seatpost (I think I need either 27.0 or 26.8, will update thread once I've checked but putting it up now anyway in case anyone has something in either of these sizes).
