nice early 80's Ellis Briggs Professional with a 24" frame on the EB website:
http://www.ellisbriggscycles.co.uk/product/ellis-briggs-professional/
not cheap at £700 but not mad expensive either... would look even better with gumwalls and shiny bars, stem and seatpost.

Cheers @Mr_Bump . Yep, that type of double guide seems to be pretty rare - I think they only came with the first few years of Dura Ace. The one pictured is the only one on ebay and is something like £25. I have a scabby looking one and the equally scabby Weinmann hangers in the picture are mine too; so after toting up how much I've already overspent on my winter build and I've decided not be so OCD and just live with them.

Lovely bike!
I found it impossible to get any gumwall 26x 1 1/4 tyres for my (now gone) Hercules. Kenda and Raleigh did them until recently but now only produce all black ones (and they look pretty bog standard). Options for 27 x 1 1/4 seem fairly limited too now...

SOLD!!!!
I've reached the dreaded N+ too-many, so my teal KCB two-speed is now up for sale.
Great no-nonsense commuter bike with Sram automatic (automatix) two speed hub whereby the second gear kicks in automatically when you get up to around 8mph. Basically, it works so that it's easy to set off from a standing start and then kicks in once your cruising along - without the fuss or clutter of cables and shifters.
Frame is 60cm and suitable for someone around 5'10" to 6'4". I'm a stupid 6'6" high which makes it a touch small for me hence the ridicules saddle height.
I've owned this from new, and there are the usual scratches from use but no dents or dings. Teal paint, upgrade Brooks sprung B67 saddle (3yr old), Porteur bars with black leather tape.
it cost £590 3 years ago (now priced at £700 ,
I'd like £350 ono.

!!!!!SOLD!!!!!
I picked this up alongside some other things I was after and as it's too small for me it's got to go...
Lovely mid-80s FW Evans 531c throughout 22" (ctc), straight, dent and ding free, just the odd chip to the paint work, a few tiny bits of surface rust. Columbus dropouts.
Groupset: Shimano 105 /1050 Indexed 6 speed (shifters have friction option). Works perfectly.
Chainset: 52/42 Shimano 105 bio-space
Wheels: Mavic MA40 with Campagnolo (Gran Sport? hubs) and skewers. Shimano 6 speed freewheel (close ratio 13-21 maybe? I check later) Wheels run true and smooooooth.
Brakes: Shimano 105, non-aero levels w/ original hoods.
Bars/stem: Cinelli Giro de Italia 64-40 with Star logo. Cinelli 1A (100mm).
SR fluted seat post
Headset: Specialized
BB: ?
Pedals: SR
Saddle: Avocet (functioning but ripped)The seatpost and stem move freely and have been removed and regreased before reinserting. I've taken it for a spin and the shifting is lovely, the brakes work better than my Shimano 600EXs and it rides great. Lot's of life left in the rims. The smudges in the photos are sticker residue which I'll wash off tonight.
I'm not sure who made frames for FW Evans in the mid-80s (I've seen Bob Jackson, Nigel Dean, Dave Yates and Orbit listed as possible candidates), whoever it was it's a really nicely built frame (fork crown is very nice). The only clue I can see is "27D" stamped under the BB.

@depps">@depps I got in trouble with my wife for selling it! ...and I'll be in trouble again when she discovers my plan is to use the funds for something more my size...

SOLD
I picked this up last year in a shed found state and cleaned it up over winter but it's sadly too small for my stupidly tall body.
Early 50's 23" Hercules Aston Club with original Flamboyant Magenta finish and decals. Paint is in great bright condition but with the odd scratch and chip as to be expected for a 60-odd year frame.
Dunlop Lightweight 26” X 1 ¼” rims with very rare and desirable Harden Flywate hub (cup and cone rather than the sealed bearings). The Rear is a flip-flop hub currently set-up as fixed only (15T). The chrome rims have shined up a treat but there is slight bit of flaking to the rear rim (see photo). The wheels have been trued (but not over tightened) and the hubs serviced.
lovely Hercules fluted cottered crank. 46T
Very rare John Bull “Light Speed” tyres. Research would suggest that these tyres haven’t been produced for 50-60 years. They still hold air and felt good for the mile I rode round the block but I wouldn’t risk them at Light Speed. I would imagine that these are collectable as I’ve never seen a pair come up for sale. Replacement tyres are cheaply available (£10-15 each).
Lovely GB Spearpoint Stem
GB Coureur Plus calipers with original the Hercules levers and outer cables.
Bluemels Mudguards (I’ll also include a rear Bantel “Beau Garde” which came with the bike)
Hercules “Kestrel” leather saddle
1980s MKS quill pedals (it was pedal-less when I got it).
New Velox bartape, cables and tubes.
I have the original rusty Hercules stem and calipers and a rear Bantel “Beau Garde” mudguard which are also included in the sale (you can even have the 1950’s/60s pink Michelin inner tubes).
Kind of difficult to price this... the wheelset and tyres would be worth a 100quid+ to a collector.
...How about £175?

I had a PDW a few years ago and the light it gave out was pretty weedy. ok with a second rear light but I wouldn't recommend using one on it's own.
