I bought this bike approximately two years ago and have ridden it mostly for XC rides on the weekends. I am looking to sell as apparently six bikes is too many to have in a one bedroom flat.

I have chucked on a random seat, seat post, headset and stem because I wanted to keep my Chris King and Thomson stuff. Other than the chainset (Shimano XT) and the tyres (Maxxis Ikon 2.2) the bike is fairly stock although it does come with free mud.

I'm looking for £300 collected from the city centre in Bristol but will post at the buyer's expense.

Issues

(1) the brakes probably need a bleed but still work okay;
(2) one of the grips is glued on - I have now idea why; and
(3) the pedals aren't included.

I can include a different pair of handlebars and/or grips if required.

Yeah I have one of the Copenhagen ones on my Bianchi and whilst it is fine to hold a backpack on the way to work, it is not up to holding more than 12 beers without feeling sketchy.

Rad! Did you have to make a custom bracket to mount the dynamo light to the basket?

I’ll have a look at this - I have been commuting like that for a few months and now understand why my panniers keep sliding to the back of the rails. It will be a right pain to change now because of the rear dynamo cable routing! Bugger.

Got mudguards and a dynamo - routing through the fork leg was worth it but troublesome.

Those Shimano XC5 also look like a shout - I'll see if my LBS can order some in for me to try out.

My new job is a 26 mile round trip instead of a 5 minute walk like my current job.

Trying to get my Kepler in commuting mode, I’m going to purchase some mudguards and get some spd shoes/pedals. Currently have keos but hate the shoes so want some harder wearing mtb type shoes. Any suggestions?

I cannot help but think they are in denial. It looks impractical as well as unattractive.

Updated with new pictures showing the pitting on the forks and the split hood on the lever.

The frame itself has chips and scratches in the paint as you would expect from a bike this age but generally the paint work is good and is still a very vibrant fluro pink and yellow in person.

I’ll upload better tomorrow pictures tomorrow after giving it a clean.

Thanks for the heads up on the brake pads - I will fix it. I’m unfairly clueless on caliper brakes clearly.

Not sure I follow on the potential seat post issue? I’ve ran a few like this over the years without a problem.

The main aesthetic issue is the pitting on the forks and from a mechanical perspective, the rear end has been spread to allow for a 130mm hub in the 126mm dropouts. This hasn't seemed to cause any problems and I understand many people have gone down this route on the forum.
