Excellent, I'm really looking forward to Underworld, it's going to be great. Just got to try and not dance too hard, I need to think lightweight and not caner..... never gunna happen....so if you're all fresh faced on sunday you'll be 4 beers deep by the time I finish so that may equalise things a bit :)

Not off to see Underworld at Ally Pally on the Saturday are you?
Cos that's what I'm doing the night before and that's guaranteed to be messy, but come rain or shine I'll be rattling out the toxins on the cobbles.
And as its always great weather for this, there's no better recovery, guaranteed to want a beer by the end;)

It's usually about 35 miles in total, but they may tweak it from previous editions.
Usually head north of the river for cobbles, before heading south and taking on a number of testing hills.
Here's a gpx of the 2022 edition:

Thanks, and yes you're right on the details I think as that's what I'd heard too.
This one is the EX version which has the biaxial ovalised main tubes or whatever they were called, the AX ones had regular round tubes I think. These EX main tubes are shaped like Columbus Max tubes, and from my observations the seat tubes and down tubes are in the same orientation as on Merckx's Max MX Leaders, but the top tube on this ti is also biaxial ovalised whereas on the MX Leaders the top tube is just a regular round tube, that was probably Columbus SLX .

Just finished rebuild of my 1996 ti Merckx. Converted to a 10 speed triple. Big thanks to Mamachari who I sourced a new straight bladed Columbus Max fork thro, and who also arranged strip and rechroming of another fork I had.
The new fork is the hamdywork of @Jimjam of this forum I think, and he's done a top job, the shiny chrome fork makes it look a bit less like nearly every other ti bike ever, and I tried to continue with that theme by having shiny silver over black/carbon where possible.
Also thanks to @arup of this forum who built me some new wheels, Campag Chorus hubs 28h front and 32h rear, Sapim spokes and H+Son Archetype rims, fitted with 30c tyres, and I could probably get 32's in there, a surprise for a road frame from the 90s.
Super comfy and fast all day bike, loving it already, roll on spring.

No build pics yet as its in a pile of bits stage, builder says fork should be assembled by the end of the week and then its off to get chromed, but that's the main thing I'm waiting for. I've got everything else apart from the bar tape. I'll post some pics when it all starts going together.
Frame is my old 96 Merckx EX, and despite being maybe heavier and flexier I'll be using a quill and avoiding an aheadset. I much prefer the look of a quill and already have a gunmetal 3t stem and bars that are a great match for the ti, and also have a Campag ti seatpost which matches perfectly too.
Tho yours is probs the best looking ahead I've seen on a ti bike :)
And wow so the fork is carbon! I thought it looked way too skinny for that, flexy?

Hell yeah, looks great.
What are the forks? Are they steel? They look too skinny to be carbon.
I'm in the process of similarly greying up my ti bike, with a quill and a straight bladed chrome Columbus Max fork that I'm getting built and hope to have in the next month. Going to fit with a Campag triple and some silver Chorus hubs and silver Archetype rims, and your build has convinced me leaning into the full grey look will look great.
I've got the saddle and pedals but ti looking tape is so far proving more difficult to find than I expected, as I've mentioned on the bar tape thread.

Cheers Andy, heard its good tape but its looks a bit too matte to me.
Still think the Velox is leading the race. I'm off to Halfrauds tomorrow to audition the SupacazBling (cringe) tape, first impressions are it looks a bit too silvery but we'll see.
In a similar vein I came across this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ciclovation-Leather-Touch-Handlebar-Platinum/dp/B09TFZCY1X/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=ciclovation+platinum&qid=1700069067&sr=8-1
....but the colour in the pics varies a bit, and I don't fancy dropping nearly 40 quid on bar tape on the off chance, and I can only find it at Amazon, who I'd rather not use if possible.(shuffles off to investigate how to age silvery tape to make it look more ti, using old tea leaves or any stuff I've got around the flat),
Or perhaps the easiest and most obvious option is just fit the silver tape and ride it around for the rest of November and December, which is bound to take the edge of the silvery-ness and dull it enough.
The Internet has revealed to me that midges weigh about 1/8000 of a gram, can't fly in winds over about 6mph, don't go over about 1500ft in elevation, have the fastest beating wings in the world at up to 1000 beats a second, Scotland has up to 200 trillion of them in peak season, they are drawn to darker coloured clothing and something something ketones, but not a fucking sausage about midge top speed or range (on a still day with no wind assistance or hindrance, yadda yadda as if etc)
Frankly Elon Musk should stop all this Mars bollocks until we've got all these basic questions answered.
Anyone know?
