I'm sure that not a lot of person can feel the difference from 1" to 1 1/8 and almost no one have Kirk as a race bike. My thought is that if you want a custom bike of that level you "need" a custom 1" stem and not just a shim

Is there a reason why he built with a 1" steerer? Is it just to use some specific lug? All the Kirk bike I see on the internet use a 1 1/8 stem with a shim and that seem strange on a custom bike

I built one for my partner. It's fairly well made and it's not too heavy. The geometry it's not exactly how advertised but it was still ok just I higher head tube. The one I have is the new version of cx01. It's a good option for someone that want an all city super professional at 1/4 of the price

Now that my partner have a new bike i can have back my tokyo fixed the dart frame that she used as a commuter for years. this is the only track frame that i have after selling everything to built my waltly. the bike look good i just need to change the tire with some gp4000 from the spare part box and to deinstall the freewheel and put the fixed cog on, then i can fixie skid twice (maybe) this summer!

There is a big market of fake laser especially in asia. even Pesenti the welder of the original ones is claimed to keep weld some from time to time and sell it as the original vintage one

After thinking about it all night I fixed it. The baby seat leg shield was too wide and moving it up or down doesn't give enough room to pedal, so I took 2 seat post yoke and bolts some cable tie and now the shield stay close to the seat stays , remove the baby seat is still easy just 2 bolt to undo

Mum bike is done. Now I have to understand how to set the baby seat in a way that is possible to pedal without hit it

Oh and the geometry is not exactly as the geo chart, the headtube is 5mm taller and i think the top tube is shorter which is still work ok for me but still something to think about

someone asked about the tsunami steel frame on aliexpress, i have been delivered one. It sound and straight for a steel frame is not too heavy the headset is ok but the seatpost clamp is a lump of metal.. building it up i encountered a problem with one of the read disc bosses, i think it need to be chased and probably a shorter bolt than usual

It's an AliExpress special, frame & fork, headset, seatpost, stem, brakes and gear all came from alixpress, even for shimano parts the price are really good and i find the platform very easy to use. the pedals are indeed from aliexpress but the are like 5 years old so i don't know if they are stil available

Yes it is, it seem well done. It build up almost without any problem, only one of the 2 rear disc brake bosses need to be chased the bolt doesn't want to go in and I don't want to break it . On Monday it goes to the mechanic for a break and gear set up and it should be good to go

the only strange thing is the refund, aliexpress refund policy is in general really good i think they keep the money till the client is satisfied and the sellers are in general more worried to be blocked by the platform than to keep the money of a bad product. I buy alot of crap from there and every time something was not to the right spec i asked and received a refund.

Agree, that and a right size wheel and it's good to go. it's the fact that it's intentionally tweaked to be like that that bothering me
