My Suttons Apricot Foxgloves are slowly getting their lift on. First time I've tried foxgloves so feel proud that they're actually doing something. Getting kind of overshadowed by the massive poppies though.

They've got flower buds. Not sure they will flower. Some of the buds have fallen off which seems to be a thing. It's a steep learning curve however one I'd like to master! :)

I've woken up this morning and have been blessed with the emergence of the first two poppy flowers. The plants are about 2 foot I reckon. Look quite nice for something self seeded.

My Hydrangea hedge down the front path is starting to fill in a bit. They got mown down by the late frosts but have staged a comeback of late. Should be spectacular when they come out. My youngest loves helping, my teenager, not so much :)

First time trying Salvia this year and it's flowering nicely. Smells great too and is a magnet for the bees.

Poppies are the only thing that survived my hot compost. I've got loads coming up in the front garden. Assume because the seeds are so small and made their way down quickly to the cooler bottom.

Yes, grass clippings will do the job or spent brewing grain, large amount of coffee etc.
Add some shredded paper / card etc to stop it going Anaerobic.

I tried them last year in shop purchased compost in pots and they started growing but the foliage and flowers rotted off.
I took the corns and dug them into the border (with loads of homemade compost from the hotbin) and they're thriving.
Could be the better drainage or maybe the nutrients from proper interaction with the soil. I'm going to get some more from Farmer Gracy for the front garden.
