Absolutely love it. Mine's a 2017 but I think only the paint job has changed? Use it mainly for off road touring, singletrack riding and winter commuting (in Norway, so big studded tyres and guards - zero toe overlap issues though!).
Currently set up with PX Jones copies and 3.0" tyres - had to change to 1x to get the clearance though. It's been absolutely faultless, all the mounts you could want and I really like the fact it is all "old" standards, so it's able to use parts bin/second hand bits without any worries. Are you planning on running drop bars? It's pretty long in the top tube, so might be hard to get it to work well.

Decathlon make some in a regular fit, not 100% merino but harder wearing and dry a bit faster. I've got a couple and they are lasting well.

I like having my rear light down by the dropout - it means it shines on the road and creates a pool of light (even more effective in wet weather) which I feel is more visible than a light mounted higher up. Also makes cable routing a bit more discreet, either along the rear derailleur or brake cable, depend on which country you're in.

An easy (and better) fix is to get some aluminum g-hook buckles in the right width. They're stronger, lighter and easier to operate when you have cold/wet hands. You can just cut the female part of the buckle off the bag and hook directly onto the strap. I've done it on my Carradice bag (and others) and much prefer it.

No mudguards today as the weather is nice and sunny, but here's my Norco halfway through a relaxed century ride near Oslo.

I've got the small version and definitely found water in the front pocket when I've been riding in heavy rain. I suspect it's water spraying off the front tyre and getting through the seams. I got a block of "Greenland" style wax, rubbed it all over the bag and seams, then melted it into the fabric with a heat gun. Definitely sheds water a lot better now, but I still put my stuff inside a plastic bag just to be safe.

Hey guys, new to forum but came across this thread a little while ago and found it really interesting. I've also just moved to Oslo with my AWOL (rode it here from London on a 2 week tour) and would defintely be up for an AWOL owners ride in the forests if there's one happening! Done a litle bit of exploring already around Sognsvann/Tryvann but some local input would be great for new routes! Cheers, Leo
