FPTP promotes a status quo of politics to gain the centre-right position, and results in huge swathes of the population feeling completely disengaged from their vote having any real impact allowing more extreme parties to gain any traction.
Clearly good that the ‘bad’ parties of the day (BNP, UKIP, Reform) never (hopefully) make much of a mark on election day, but on the flip side it neither do the ‘good’ parties (Green), and it is absolute scenes that someone wanting a left leaning party would be toying with the idea of voting Reform to split the Tory vote in their constituency.
