So, after some research my used Brompton seems to be from 2002.
Thanks again to @infmz : I found the clip as a spare part in a local shop and put it on without any issues :)While I was able to service and adjust the headset to be wobble-free, I suspect that somewhere in the not too distant future i might want to change it to a threaded one with exchangeable cartridge bearings (e.g. Tange Falcon).
After some attention and cleaning the brakes are moving again and they're braking... sort of :D
Are there any recommended brakes to upgrade the 2002 stock ones?
Simply search for current Brompton ones, or something else?
(I had some tricolor Koolstop Brake pads that i put on already, so the pad quality is not the issue anymore...)
Theyre hella flexy (=caliper parts flex forwards under hard braking) and while I can live with them for flat riding, I'd like to have some good brakes... -

Through very much luck I might soon be the new owner of a very old Brompton that was offered to me so cheaply that i could not say no...
Of course it's completely reasonable to think about modifications already, innit? :D
Dont know the exact age yet. But it is old enough that the IGH is still a Sachs Torpedo and not a Sturmey Archer and it doesn't have the securing clip for the rear triangle at the seat clamp yet.
Therefore my first question is:
Can I retrofit this securing clip to an older bike?
If so, what part or brand is preferable? There seems to be a jungle of fancy third party stuff... -

I've done thin strips, wrapped the other direction than the bar tape that goes over it. works pretty well imo for some slightly better damping and some more thickness.
It's nice and stretchy and if you clean the talcum powder off well, it provides a good grip for the sticky bits of the bartape. would recommend.Have only done parts though, so a short portion in the drops, not double-wrapped for the whole length of the bars.

Soo, am i mistaken or is this a regular 2-speed rear hub in the 1st video?
Is this 3-speed hack doable on the 6-speed bike, i.e. on the 3speed rear hub with the 2speed cog assembly?
So that one would get 9 gears? And if done on the normal 2speed hub exactly as in the video: what is the maximum capacity and cog size of the bromptopn rear derailleur?

hey there, does someone have any experience with swapping wheels with different sizes and how this works with velo orange guards? how serious are their tire-width recommendations?
so far i am using bluemels in 50mm width. in the summer there are 32 or 38mm wide 700c tires underneath. rather tight, slicks mostly. thats great although it looks slightly dorky because the guards are so much wider than the tires.
for bad weather, winter, gravelrides etc. i swap in a different wheelset with 650B rims and 47mm tires. WTB Venture, sendero, in the future there will be some vittoria terrenos.so far the tight setup that cleared the slicks worked good as a mud-capable setup for the 650b tires. Very happy with the fitment.
However i am decidedly unhappy with the longevity of the guards. every 1 to 2 years the become brittle and something breaks somewhere and i've spent enough money on 20-30 euro sets so that I could have bought one set of good ones in the same time ...i am hoping that 50 or 52mm metal guards are suitable for the same compromise. has anyone got experience with this? :)

what @oheyitsd says.
9 sp mtb and 10sp road have identical pull ratio.theres a handy chart at jtek: http://www.jtekengineering.com/shiftmate/shiftmate-compatibility-charts-choices/
scroll all the wax down to the jtek Y table. -
there are sometimes trekking framesets at cnc-bike that still have v-brake studs for the HS11.
Otherwise, there's the paripa JWD frameset, which is very smiliar to the intec framesets: https://rad-spannerei.de/produkt/fahrradrahmen-paripa-jwd/Otherwise: Why not put all the parts on a used Surly Cross Check?

cant't recommend the 100% brisker as winter gloves.
I use them as fall / spring gloves and if it's not too cold in the winter, e.g. between 5 and 10 degrees. i find them ideal for that.
they're not very water-repellent, more than a drizzle and in 5km theyre soaked.what i can recommend though are endura deluge with primaloft insulation.
theyre relatively water-repellent (enough for 1hr of rainy riding before theyre soaked) and very warm in the winter. used them until -5 and they were warm enough for me.For anything below that i combine inner gloves or summer gloves with big Ski gloves, but i hate the feeling of this combo on shifters and brake levers.

yes, here: https://velo-orange.com/collections/20-fenders/products/26-650b-20-cargo-bike-fenderset-silver-and-noir
or at any shop that can order VO parts :) -
Well, there is the extender bar for Omnium bikes: https://omniumcargo.dk/shop/product/aluminium-extender-bar/

Now that's what I'd be interested in, too.
How does the rear dropout look, especially the gear hanger?Could I put on some singlespeed tensioner in a pinch? Say, I destroy the proprietary derailleur-thing and can't get a replacement (because its proprietary and probably not readily available everywhere...)...
Or could i stick any old short-cage rear derailleur on it, limit it with the screws to the cogs on the hub and shift it with some old parts-bin thumbie in friction mode? you know, stuff that any bikeenthusiasthoarder has flying around :D
If those grips in your photo are GE1: They're mounted the wrong way around
