just received an answer from the WI customer support: "The 1/8” chain is too wide for the 16t freewheel. You will notice because the size is so small we have to use a smaller bearing and we machine grooves in along side the teeth so the chain can sit down properly. Unfortunately there isn’t enough room for the 1/8” chain to seat properly."

yeah, that's pretty much identical to what i have gathered during my research. WI official info & recommendations vs. comments from people stating there is no problem whatsoever...
description on velomine also claims that "use of an 1/8" chain will cause the chain plates to rub on the freewheel body". @cip1000, can you confirm or object that? -
hi folks,
i'm about to pull the trigger on a 16t WI eno freewheel. just wondering if it will fit with a 1/8 chain and 1/8 chainring without problems?
found varying comments on that issue on the i-net. since this is my first build and i have no first hand experience, do you know if the mixed setup will work just fine? would be thankful for your advice.

hey folks,
i've been looking for a reasonable prized '16t white industries freewheel' for quite some time.
i am from germany and it's kinda hard to get one's hands on a WI around here without overpaying.
please let me know if you got something available and are willing to send it to germany.
thx in advance
hey guys,
i'm working at a weight-optimized singlespeed build at the moment and i'm still looking for a comparatively lightweight chain in 1/8” size. since this will not be ridden fixed i want to avoid using a heavy duty chain, rather looking for something sub 300g.
any suggestions for my intended purpose would be highly appreciated.
