@hugo7 definitely keeping it now this thread has shown me some sense. Either with me or my sister. Cheers :)
-
@coppiThat yeah that is 100% true. Will keep it. Agree with whoever said about a wider strap an using it for dressier occasions. Need to get a seiko fixed soon so I'll put the OG metal strap back on and try it out for a bit. Cheers all :)

@JB 25mm actual face and 34mm ish including the casing. He suggest Part ex because (guessing here), rather than pass me something down that will sit in a drawer, he'd rather me have something larger that I would actually use.

This was my dad’s 21st present from the 80s. Not been touched for 20+ years. He has large wrists so was never going to be able to wear it, despite changing the strap when purchased. At the time it was all my grandparents could afford (£193.38 all in).
Not sure what to do with it - my sister could have it maybe. My dad mentioned my 21st coming up in a few months and I like the idea of getting me a nice watch., perhaps by part exchanging this. -
@spotter Thanks for this. Can't go wrong for £20! I will get mine fixed and just keep it :)

Just stumbled across this thread and upon seeing loads of Seiko Automatics, though I would share this and ask for some advice please. It belonged to my great Grandad, who got it from collecting stamps or something from cigarette packets. My nan thought it wasn't anything special. Anyway about 2 years ago I dug it out, wound it up and fitted a new strap - and then wore it most days. Not sure how but the third hand broke.
How much roughly would a repair be? I don't think it is worth much (not that I'd sell it) but may be worth repairing anyway from a sentimental point of view.
Thanks

@TheShipwright yeah they do! Found it on the website https://www.merciancycles.co.uk/online-shop/home/mercian-frame-search/?v=79cba1185463

@coppiThat I think I know what it is worth roughly, was just asking about the model! Some kind of touring frame? Thanks
-
Got this from a work colleague on a Yammer for sale group today. Too small for me, but it may fit a mate or my sister, or I may tidy it up and pass it on. He had it build new in 2000 and it was in a magazine allegedly for a road test, which the seller is trying to dig out. 531C, Good condition, lots of campag, brakes set up US /switch style randomly, and it had a new record headset put in 200 miles ago. Not used much he was saying.
anyone know what model it is please?

@zootsuit I'm in Derby and may keep my eye on this. Original fork is missing unfortunately
-
Large GT, clean condition with B17 for £150 or offer but way up near Hull unfortunately https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GT-Force-1998-Vintage-Road-Bike-60cm/302807176201?hash=item4680b6d409:g:yu0AAOSwUSpbTJF9

@Howard this worked cheers. thanks all.

@D-Dog thanks for this! Will read that later and give the hubs a clean when I get some time
-
@Jingle_Jangle (1/2) may start one but depends what I do with it. Too small for me. Seller knew what parts it had but not the hubs I don't think. Has a tange headset, 9 speed campag rear mech, campag shifts, front mech, hubs (sheriff stars), pedals, selle royal stem/bars, shimano chainrings on a mismatched crankset, suntour brakes and a sram chain. The campag skewers are really cool. Will stop hijacking this great thread now.

@wintyDono may do yeah - it is a 5 minute walk from where I work. It was me - I'll add some detailed pictures later :)
-
Yeah I think so. Would be a shame to part it out. Was just going to clean it, add change the tyres, change the seat, sort the levers and bar tape. If I do sell or part it, and make anything significant I'll make a donation to the forum. Seller has 100% feedback 800ish times so I'm guessing it is legit.
Passing the mercian pictured at the end of the last page to my friend's mum. She has a 653 road frame in the same size (54cm) which I'll try and get a picture of soon
