Cheap, 25,4mm risers? Preferably carbon, if those are safe. I found these https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/Full-carbon-fiber-handlebar-flat-bar-riser-folding-bike-bmx-25-4mm-460-500mm-ride-bicycle/32664018363.html?spm=a2g0z.search0104.3.1.A77yrn&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_1_10152_10065_10151_10068_10344_10345_10342_10343_10340_10341_10540_10304_10307_10060_10155_10154_10056_10055_10539_10054_10538_10537_10059_10536_10534_10533_100031_10099_10103_10102_10052_10053_10142_10107_10050_10051_10325_10084_10083_10080_10082_10081_10177_10110_10111_10112_10113_10114_10312_10313_10314_10078_10079_10073,searchweb201603_24,ppcSwitch_4&btsid=c1f495b1-c3de-4b8f-85f1-682d43303d52&algo_expid=f192f77d-7903-41ec-aff8-008989f1af41-0&algo_pvid=f192f77d-7903-41ec-aff8-008989f1af41 but i'm not 100% sure i won't break my teeth hopping a curb.

So today i got my first fine, just moved to a new place, first day of having my motorcycle here and went for a little ride to explore everything. Just as i decided to go home i went under a bridge and revved a bit for the nice nice sound, overtook someone in a 2 lane corner and just as i got out of the corner there was a lasergun policeman. Went 86 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, corrected to 83 it will probably cost me 350 euro's.. Fuck me. That was my first month of rent :(. Lesson learned and won't do stupid shit anymore at least, time to sell a bike.

I stopped by my cousin to check if he had a crimping tool, turned out he was also swapping the old loom from his ninja with a better 2nd hand one. The old loom had just the one connector i needed, so i cut it off, soldered it to the wire on my bike, connected it and it ran just like it used to. I've found a 2nd hand loom for not too much money, depending on the state of it i might just buy it and swap it over.

I do have some clue, but it's still rather intimidating looking at all the wires. The bike still works, but small things like run/off doesn't work, neutral light etc. But i don't think i'm able to fix it like this, because of the shitty job the last owner did. I don't have money to get somebody to make me one, neither do i think the problem is worth that much money either :p I'll see what i do, maybe find a nice 2nd hand one or just slowly build a new one myself.

There are, but it would costs 300 euro's to do, so doing it myself is probably cheaper and (in the end) more fun. I've found some 2nd hand ones for 50 euro's, but i don't know how 30 year old electrics are gonna hold up.. It's an old bike without any electronics, just lights, blinkers and run/off, so it shouldn't be too difficult, just a little bit intimidating :p

Anybody ever tried to make a new wiring harness for a bike? I pulled the headlight on the XT and found out the (or one of the) previous owners fucked up all the wiring, duct taped together, cut off wires etc. and i have no idea where to start. Buy a crimp tool, lots of wire and just start over? I have the workshop manual so i have the diagrams and everything for the wiring, but no idea where to start.. I've found some 2nd hand complete wiring harnesses, but they look old and fucked up, so i think my best bet is to just start over again.

Couple of days ago the blinkers stopped working on my XT600, turned out one of the connectors on the circuit breaker broke off. Lights still worked (although dimmed and both lights would light up when braking, instead of only the rear one), bike still started (kickstart). Called around to find out that the part is no longer being manufactured, but one store still had it somewhere, which they send to me for a lower price than i could find 2nd hand, which was nice. Hope this fixes it and i haven't fried the blinkers or anything as i suck with electrical stuff. Also still having some problems when riding above 4000rpm on constant gas, seems to skip a little bit or something, thinking about dirty carbs but haven't changed the sparkplug yet and don't know if it has ever been changed in 30+ years so will start doing that this week. Other than that, so much fun riding around a (basically) huge dirtbike. Also nice to have instant torque, as compared to the BMW F650 i used to ride before, which didn't really do anything under 3k rpm.
Next to that, how do you guys clean your bikes? I want to get everything cleaned up because that hasn't happened in a long time either, but don't really know where to start, as there is dirt/grease/mud/whatever caked on everywhere. Just spray a shitload of WD40 on everything greasy, toothbrush for all the small cracks and places and a rag for everything else? Probably best to not use high pressure waterjet to blast it all off right?

Got all the parts, will mount them this weekend as well as take the bike apart, clean everything and replace mismatching bolts etc., replace brake pads and new brake oil. Anybody here ever serviced a drum rear brake? I do have the workshop manual but it looks kind of intimidating taking apart the rear wheel, is it hard to do or not? The brake still works but i doubt they ever replaced the brake shoes in the 30 years and i don't want to fuck up the rear wheel. If it's hard, i'll just take it to a shop to get it checked out.

So the xt600 i bought is missing the original bars, passenger pegs and skidplate. I've found someone who has all three of these, for 115 euro's. Will probably not ride 2 up a lot, some short rides with the girlfriend. The previous owner put on some shiny gold low rise bars which don't even match the gold wheels, so i want to replace that one anyway. Skid plate might be nice to have when riding off road, although i won't be riding real gnarly stuff, just gravel and some loose sand. I do want to make it as original as possible, should i just buy this stuff? I can't make my mind up.

Nect thing; i have been looking for a xt600 for a while, found this one 2 hours away, guy is telling me it runs fine and i should be able to ride it home if i want. 1986, 26k kilometers. Only thing i can see in the photo's is a missing right hand mirror, missing passenger pegs and modified/non-stock exhaust. He wants 1200 euro's for it. If i buy it, i'll probably put some new oil in it etc. but won't take it apart as i don't want to fuck it up. He doesn't have service history, he bought it as a second bike a couple of years ago, not ridden much but doesn't mind if he can't sell it and will keep riding it. Does this sound like a fair price if everything is running well? It does have some 'usual' enduro damage, is what he says, but nothing broken, original wheels, frame all good etc.

The thing is, i wouldn't mind if he told me he was wrong etc. And tried to resolve the issue, but right now i'm just angry that there is someone on the road, who has hit someone while being on his phone with no consequences at all. If i would've had a camera he would at least get in trouble for using his cellphone. In the year that i have my license, i've seen more crazy shit happen than while driving my car.

Fucking hell, riding home from work last saturday on a back road, i have to take a right turn while i see someone coming from that direction, riding slow and (i thought) checking to see if there was nothing coming from his right side. I take the most inside line through the corner possible because he was acting a bit strange, and all of sudden he is riding right at me and steers away at the last moment, hitting the side of my knee and motorcycle. I managed to stay upright, being a bit shocked, and see him speeding away. I turn around, manage to take him over and he stops, gets out of his car and tells me: ''what are you going to do about it? Nobody has seen it''. I check for damage, nothing on my motorcycle, not even a single little scratch that i can see. He admits to being on his phone while driving, still laughing at me and telling me i can't do anything about it. I call the police, they say they can't do anything as there is no damage and no witnesses. I felt so fucking shitty, this guy was on his phone, driving, and he hit me on my motorcycle and i can't do shit about it and he knows it. Afterwards, i call the police again because i wanted to make a notice from this, they tell me they won't because there is no evidence and it's my word against his.
I'm thinking about buying some kind of camera, i do have a gopro but it's big and old which means it doesn't work really good and the quality is pretty bad. Anybody using a helmet camera or some kind of dashcam on his bike and which one?
