No no, it's already been professionally faced and chased by the chain reaction workshop. However that is a good idea for installing the bb, thanks.

Cool okay, I was going to dump the BB and crankset anyway and start fresh because like I said I think I might have messed it up and I wanted to ask everyone's advice first before I get another set. I would however prefer to install the BB myself correctly but how can I fit it with the correct torque etc?

    Thanks for all recommendations guys!

There was resistance at first and after riding a few miles a friend told me probably needed the frame chased and faced which I got done. Still had the same issues with creaking and cranks coming loose. To be honest, I dont 100% know what I'm doing so I'd appreciate any advice on tightening BBs etc. British threaded as far as I recall.

    Thanks

    Hi guys,

Have an old peugeot record du monde which was the my first single speed build. I have a standard 7 quid 68mm shimano BB and an ambrosia pista crankset. I rode it from Belfast to Paris so around 380 miles and had real bad problems with creaking and cranks coming loose which I assume was to do with the BB, so I'm basically looking some recommendations for a decent quality fair price crankset if possible!

    Thanks
    Marc
