Hi,
Had a search of the forum, couldn't find much regarding the Charge Grater (know this is usually the geared hybrid of their stable, but 2015 they have a SS base model) just wondering about peoples view of this as there isn't much out there.
Seen that the Charge plug seems to have got some positive vibes and rode one today at a test ride, but didn't get on with the bull horn bars, but other than that (and pedals which Im changing to SPDs anyway) seemed to ride well compared to my Claud Butler SS/FG I'm commuting on now.
Been looking for a while for a replacement and seeing as I need the rear hub sorting on the Claud, I thought I'd see about changing for something cheap, but better. Seen that Alu frames seem to be more expensive generally and the Charge Grater 0 is pretty damn cheap, but is Alu frame with steel fork (steel fork is fine for me). Only downside is that it only has a SS freewheel on the back and is not running a flip flop hub to also have a fixed gear, but thats not too much of a bother for me as I commute on Milton Keynes 'glorious (hideous)' red way system on the way to work and only ride FG for fun.
So generally looking for any views of Charge as a brand or ideally if anyone has ridden a Grater bike. I have a bit of a stable at the moment for a one bed flat (2 road bikes, mountain bike, 2 SS/FG (selling identical Claud, one that I fixed as a project), plus the girls mountain bike and road bike) so looking for something cheap to ride to work so really not looking at more than around £350.
Before you say it, yes I want a SS/FG to commute on as the road bikes get used for a lot of long distance miles for fitness, Alu winter bike and Carbon nice weather bike, as for the mountain bike I'm not looking to lug it about and don't want it to be stolen as its a good mid-range bike. Oh and also discovering fixed or in particular my favourite single speed riding this year I enjoy riding this the most.
