Hi all,
Was staying in london last night as myself and a mate were taking part in the prudential today, locked our bikes up on shore ditch high street and 10 mins later this is all that is left!
So, my Wilier Lavaredo and my mates Dawes are gone, and we had no bikes to ride on so had to get the train home today. All in all probably close to a £2500 night out between us!
I want to replace this ASAP but with something a bit more special. Budget is around £1-1.5k all in, would like a really good steel frame (possibly custom) and nice classic racing parts. Maybe 8 speed on the back, two rings on the front.
Recommendations?

Hi All,
I've been searching for a bike for the Mrs for a few weeks, deciding (by budget) that a good quality old steel bike would be best for her.
I was in a small independent bike (scrap really!) shop in Normandy and came across an old Le-mond bike - £80. I tried to push this on my girlfriend to no avail as she had her eyes on this little thing in the corner.
After a bike of haggling, we settled on 180EUR (£155 at the time) and we were off.
This thing is really really light, I have a Wilier Lavaredo which is a tank compared to this thing. It has Tubs, Columbus Tubing, San Marco Saddle, Mavic Hubs, Wolber Rims etc etc.
Natalie was seduced by the story that it was owned by the cafe racer in the next town across (Auberville) "Monsieur Cavalot" who was a keen racer (and evidently a tiny man). Strangely the Le-Mond was also his. Sadly he died recently and the shop owner was left his bikes.
I left feeling pretty pleased with myself, is this the deal that I think it was!?
