Or maybe it was designed for 19mm tyres (being pretty old as quill stem) and it has 25 or 28 on there?

I never found the Concor comfortable as too curved for me. The Turbo, however, is very comfortable for me, especially the 'suede' version.

I got one a few months back as insurance replacement and only really wanted frameset. The standard parts are all pretty cheap and most have already been replaced with stuff I already had (seat post, seat, bars, stem) and some wheels I built on Surly Ultra hubs as I like how they look and they sell a 130mm spaced single speed rear hub.

I got round the lack of hoods on drop bar by using a bar with long reach (100mm) which gives much more room for the hands to rest or pull on meaning I don't miss the hoods.

If you are running two brakes (by the look of the Dura Ace TT brake levers) why not just use brake hoods/levers?

I rode track bikes on gravel with 25mm tyres for years and didn't really find them much different to my current cross bike with 35mm tyres so yes can clearly ride anything on gravel but whenever I went through a phase of having an old quill stem track bike the headset would always come loose at some point and was always something to worry about when riding so not a great idea for a lot of off road riding.

I changed a 50/34 to a 40 and don't get any noise at all. Using largest cog on cassette looks like a bad angle but it makes no noise and I don't stay in it long.
I also kept my 12 - 25 11 speed cassette with single steps from 12 to 19 and love it. 40 is almost in the middle of 50/34 and I don't miss the double at all, 40/12 is enough for me on mostly gravel/single track and 40/25 gets me up every hill where I live. Shifting the front ring up was never comfortable as I have a broken middle finger so in my case no negatives.

I rode pretty much only fixed for last 20 years with a bit of singlepeed and a very small bit of geared riding for around 12 months in the middle.
At 54 I am now riding a geared CX bike. I am preferring it now whereas when tried 10 years ago I didn't.
Still find having to faff about with gears and brakes a pain, especially cleaning/maintaining through winter but still enjoying it more - higher top speed, can tackle more tricky single track climbs and just generally less tiring for same distance.

The fact that the rear wheel is almost falling out of the back of the track end would suggest it is a tight fit :-)

Built this up a few months ago and think I have finally stopped trying to ride a fixed gear track bike off road at last as this is just more fun
