That is absolutely perfect. I love a '124 and I'd say they make for a great daily, very solid mechanically, just keep on top of rust-proofing. My 300TE 4matic had 200k on it and never let me down.

Allen/Torx keys/bits should work well enough to hold it in place (make sure they're well seated as you add tension to them). Think I used a couple of impact driver bits on mine with no bother.

Couple of sockets in/on two of the bolts then use a pry bar (or anything long-ish that fits) between them to stop it spinning whilst you crack one of the others.

Depends on the van massively. The right ones at the right money have never really done much depreciating. Stick to VW, Westfalia, Reimo, Danbury, Bilbo's etc. and you'll probably do alright. Ex-builders vans with big miles and homebrew conversions are best avoided. The more classic stuff has definitely taken a hit recently, but it can be hard to judge as condition varies a lot. They can also swallow money very easily in upkeep. I speak from experience...

Probably quite stupid, but life is for living and you'll never remember the time you stayed home and didn't road trip a DS to France.
It's an old Citroen in Scotland, so rust is the main concern. Don't buy a rotten one unless it's very cheap.
I bought a CX in Glasgow and took it back home to Brighton. 10/10 great trip and a wonderful car. It was definitely a bit crusty though!

I must own a phase 1 16v cab at some point. Sadly most have returned to the earth now.
Looking for a carbon 25.4mm seatpost. I don't want an Aliexpress special, needs to be min 250mm, but ideally longer.
