I got so sick of stupid design I made my own axles though
my engineering company. I`ve had 20 made (only rears so far).

They are £40.82 + VAT and delivery. I`ve been running one
in my own bike for some time with great satisfaction.
They
re more expensive than the originals which is because firstly theyre properly made, and secondly because unless you have the funds to make 1000 at a time, this is as good as it gets.Theyre made by a formula one fastener company, from pH
stainless steel - and will never corrode or break. They work
with all standard Mavic parts and so its a straight swap.
