He initially said it was possible but then on further inspection found out it wasn't. There wasn't enough room on the thread and it could possibly be dangerous or something along those lines. By chance I actually got the work done by another mechanic in the end who came to the same conclusion about the hub.

I'm new to the bike world and new to this forum. I've just bought my first bike and it had this hub on that I replaced for a fixed/free one. The mechanic said it was in perfect working condition and told me it would be worth around £100/150.
Thank you for the HubJub link. £150 for something used that would cost £175 new does seem steep. I wasn't aware of their cost and the hub has no markings so was unsure how to check. As I said I'm open to offers for whatever is a fair price.
Some of the other comments were unnecessary, a helpful word about the price would have been more constructive.
