Some updates!
Bike24 replied to my inquiry and said that they sent me the right model (Sram road), which apparently doesn't come with spacers (hmmmmmm) ["Road bike BBs usually don't come with spacers"].
Okay, so I visited two bike shops and both said that this particular CK BB would not fit my Sram Omnium, as I have play/clearance in any direction on the NONDRIVESIDE. Basically just as if you'd try to use the CK Shimano BB with a TAPERED Sram spindle: it won't work! Both also believed that this wouldn't even be the "Sram road" version... Because my CK BB also lacks this typical Sram tooth cap: http://r2-bike.com/bilder/produkte/gross/Truvativ-SRAM-GXP-Specialized-OSBB.jpg I mean, the Omnium stock BB has that and it fits on the spindle perfectly on the NONDRIVESIDE.
I think I need a CK BB which comes at least with this toothcap... as an indicator that it could work out :D
Not even sure if I can return my CK BB now as it has some visible marks left from the installation & deinstallation (using my old stock BB again ... for now) -_____- -
so yours CK bb goes perfectly with omnium the way you got it right?
Hi,
so you said CK recommended you the "stepped axle road bb" to go with the Omnius. Yeah, I think I own this one. By now, it doesn't fit, as I'll need to use spacers most likely. I can't get it tight at the moment. Can't ride it like that.I would email bike24 clone. The adapters should have been included in your order IMO
Yep, could be. I'm gonna send them an email now. On the one hand, I was a bit worried, because there weren't even instructions sent with it (okay, the Nm is written on the cups on all that stuff, but....). On the other hand, I could think of this particular "road version" being sent out without spacers, as it's supposed to fit on Road Frames only. It is written in the instruction PDF on the CK website that 68mm road frames should use it without spacers (recommended).
We'll see.

This is how I received it from the shop I ordered from, plain BB, nothing more really.
I'd say because it's already the "Sram GXP road" version, there are no spacers included. The CK BB you linked is "universal" I think, because you can convert Shimano CK BB to Sram GXP ones.
The spacer set can be bought separately: http://www.excelsports.com/main.asp?page=8&description=SRAM+Bottom+Bracket+Conversion+Kit&vendorCode=KING&major=1&minor=6 -
Hey there,
I thought this issue would fit in this thread.Originally, I ran the regular Sram Omnium cranks with default Sram BB. After several thousand km, I'd want to upgrade to a better one. So I got the Chris King GXP (road); this version: http://www.bike24.de/1.php?content=8;navigation=1;menu=1000%2C4%2C23;product=36500;lang=2 (BBB4R)
The problem after installing is the following:
- Spider hits the chainstay
- Overall much play in almost "any direction", even when the crank bolt is torqued completely -> there is a very noticable gap between the external cups and the crank arm
Can I fix this by using spacers, somehow? It seems like the spindle is "too long" with the new BB, so the crank won't get into place. The Sram default cups were noticably wider though than the Chris King's. Didn't know that before purchasing.
Here is a picture of this damn thing: http://i.imgur.com/MSfUpHO.jpg

Btw,
just wanna say that you guys were right and I'm now running my CK BB with the Omniums by using the CK adapter kit #7 (http://chrisking.com/bbconversionkits).
So that works fine! :D
