Customer service is a funny old thing in England. I have worked in shops all my life. Sold pretty much everything from beer to handbags. Working in a shop serving people is just not respected by many here and both customers and shop workers know that. This makes for a very uneasy situation where even if the two parties of customer and server have no problem serving or being served they dont know if the other has. The more expensive/ exclusive/ specialised the item being sold the more this dis-ease is cranked up due to the added issues of class, race, and sex, "how can you afford/ know about this when your a (fill in noun here)", which we are often loath to confront and discuss.

How you can criticise sports wear companies for focusing primarily on performance is beyond me?
