Rider down (7/8/15 - Coventry - W Midlands), awareness for any other Cov riders.
I was involved in a collision on the roundabout that joins Croft Road and Butts Road (just after Ikea), my route was heading out of the city centre and heading up Butts Rd, as I was approaching the junction next to Carey's a woman in BMW X5 looked in my direction and then obviously didn't notice my hi-viz top and white helmet so just pulled out. I was going at least 20mph and was about 15 yards from her position at the junction and was unable to stop/avoid her so ploughed into the side of the car. Suffered whiplash and injured my shoulder as it took the brunt of the impact, no massive damage to my bike but will have it checked at a shop to support the claim.
I'm not looking for any advice as my Wife works for a Solicitors and it's all being handled currently and so far as I know the Woman hasn't denied liability.
My main reason for posting is to make other Cov riders aware of this and advise caution, the roundabout does have part time traffic lights, but for some reason they weren't on - it was approx 5:30pm on a Friday so I would've thought this would be one of the crucial points in the day for them to be active. I will be contacting the council to query this, as the incident wouldn't have happened if they were on.
Cheers

I'm currently using 52x16 freewheel which suits me, it's a slow standing start but when you're up to speed you're not pedalling like a nutter! Can't comment on fixed haven't been brave enough to flip my wheel around yet! haha
Plus if you've got a nice 52t chainring it looks really smart....imho.
Good luck mate, can't wait to see the finished product.
Completely agree, I ride a converted Raleigh Routier.
I just wish I had more free time (and money) to restore the bike frames sitting in my garage!
