Title says it all. I have a bike and want to lock it up around London. I've decided on the lock but need a recommendation on the size as I haven't used a U-Lock in a long time. I thought 30cm would be the obvious choice to make it easier to lock up against a wider range of fixed objects, but I've read that it might be better to go the smaller lock to make it harder for thieves to pry open.
Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Thanks Sanddancer, the Globe Roll 2 looks like a great option!
How does the Roll 2 for 375 compare to a pontevecchio at 425?
Only problem with the pontevecchio is that I can't find the geometry for the XXL anywhere. I think its discontinued as the website only lists geometry for a XL here:
http://www.wilier.it/en/products/weekend/pontevecchio/
And its only 57cm by the looks of things, an XXL is probably only 59cm if it scales linearly, so might still be too small (bizarre for a bike rated XXL). Anyone know if Wilier are sized smaller than other bikes?Cheers

As in the title, I'm a tall guy will long legs and looking to buy a SS bike. Just getting into riding around London and want something simple to get around on so the idea of an SS is attractive to me. Only problem is most manufacturers only seem to go up to a large or a sub 60cm bike. I'm told I really shouldn't be on anything less than a 62cm, and even that might be too small. I'm looking to spend approx £400 (maybe a bit more if its the right bike). Can you guys suggest some models I should look at? Happy to go second hand as well. Not particularly fussed about designs or how it looks, just want to know how it goes! :)
My research so far:
The Langster does an XXL which is 61cm, is it worth searching out a second hand one of those like this?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Specialized-Langster-2010-Road-Bike-Fixie-Flip-Flop-Hub-XXL-Frame-Single-Speed-/251329875292?_trksid=p2054897.l4276
I've seen that Langsters get a bit of hatred on here, I'll be honest, I'm a bit more of a pragmatist, I'm happy to lumped in with the bankers who get around on them if its a decent bike at a decent price.I've also looked at the Charge/Prestige Plug 2012 and 2013 models in a large. Its only a large, but they seem to fit bigger than most other large bikes, question is if it is big enough for someone as tall as me? Cycle Surgery have a couple of 2013 Prestiges in large left on special for £499, though a bit more than I want to spend. I have to pay a deposit for them to build one for me to test ride I think, but don't want to waste the time if its not going to be big enough.
The Wilier Pontevechio is done in an XXL which is available at wheelbase.co.uk, if I can get them to price match cycle surgery to £425, it would be of interest. Anyone know if this is a decent bike in spite of the horrible colour scheme? I'd have to get out to lake district to test ride it.
State Cycle Co do a 62cm, but unfortunately only sell it in the US.
Other brands I've looked at, Foffa, Create, No Logo, none seem to do larger sizes.
Any comments on the above or advice on new or second hand bikes you think I should be looking at around this price range is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi all. Just joined the site, and am based in East London. I am not riding at the moment (besides Boris bikes, though I guess that doesn't count), but looking to become a regular rider and needed some advice, hence joining the site. Looks to be lots of good content on here, looking forward to getting involved in the conversation.
Thanks Swillis, I imagine I'll probably go with the 23.
Thanks for the posts Chak, I had already performed a search and trawled through much of the 47 page thread "Locks that work", but didn't find any direct information about whether I should go for the 23 or 30 version of the Abus, so decided to ask the question directly.
