I find it hard to believe that a £13.95 pad lock works as well as a £89.95 squire.
Or is it really just the same?

If the shackle is open (opposed to close like in the one you linked) how large (mm) should it be?

I am having alot of trouble tracking down any comparisons for padlocks.

So there has been a ton of discussion on which chain or U-lock to get.

I am in a situation where I have a chain and a U, but need a tiny U-Lock or padlock in order to secure the chain.

These are some of the ones I have been looking at:

    http://www.xenasecurity.com/product/bullett/main/XBLSeries/XBL2_25/page1/

    http://www.abus.com/eng/Security-at-Home/Padlocks/Granit/GRANIT-37-60-37RK-60

or the squire SS50CS (but it is a lot more money)

How often do people empty to cut the lock vs the chain?
Is there any concern with how much room exists between the chain link and the edges of the lock (for instance xena has a 35mm wide lock that would mean about 2cm of room to slip a cutter in)

Please let me know what you think!

also awesome thread, never thought of locking the cranks like that.
