Thanks JurekB and H20 for the advice, I did it, whahey! Actually I went on to Herne Bay for some nosh then back to Whitstable for a quick Pint in the micropub before getting the train back. I've never done that before, a Fixie + train adventure for me :)

Ooooh, it looks ok, thanks for the link h20.

I'll probably be travelling back off-peak, depends on my little legs and post ride munchies and thirst quenchisations.

Travelling from Whitstable (Kent) back to Dartford by train. Are non-folding bikes 'allowed' on the trains? Never tried this before.

I did my weekend ride early because the weather looks like its going to be nutters on Satdee and Sundee Ive got other stuff planned.

I ticked the Southend box today. 67.7 miles of hard but rewarding fixied fun.

Ta! It's an off cut of a ~1" hardwood plank IIRC from some project years ago, I screwed that to 2 uprights in the Workshop/Shed with hefty 3" woodscrews then screwed the hooky brackets with 25mm wood screws to the plank.

Being a tweaker I've set the (patented) "Hook-bit-Lifty-Uppy-Screws" at different heights to accommodate either 32C or 25C tyre/Rim sizes.

(Blinks awkwardly and pushes oversize spectacles back onto bridge of nose).

    I use 2 of these.

Don't bin them, I placed a large woodscrew under the arm to lift it up so you can hook the wheel under easily. Like this...

Nobel level of geniusness IMO. It took a beer and a scratchy chin to work it out y'know :)

Aaah, cheers Tom (+many M's), I didn't know there was a forum routes database, apol's!

It appears to be biased towards the North a lot, I'd have to go miles out to pick up on that route up as I'm starting from Dirty Dartfud-> G'end-> across the mighty River Styx (aka Thames) to TurdBury-> the on't Southend.

'Forum approved route' to Southend per-chance?

Well, actually from Tilbury onwards to S'end, I'm ok up to T'bury, beyond that... Banjo's and Unicorns I've heard..
