Man, I'm never gonna live that down. As I said, those wheels and pedals were all I had at the time. I sold my other bike and then replaced all the shit parts with the money, see:

Campagnolo Delta rims / Miche Primato hubs
    Shimano 600 pedals

Is this to the gentleman's liking? And yes, it is still a fixie. I didn't think that would be much of an issue on this of all forums. Criminy.

Anyway, can we please focus on the matter at hand Rive Gauche? The cranks are Campagnolo Chorus. I bought the frame used and it already had a Campagnolo bottom bracket in it, so I just bought the arms, which slid right on. I suppose Campagnolo spindles are all the same (except in width)? And regarding the width of the BB, yes that is something that I could figure out on my own.

    Hello everyone,

I've posted here a few times and have gotten some good tips. Wondering if anyone can help me out with my next question. I need to get a new bottom bracket, according to what seems to me to be a very good bike shop, but since I'm a cheapskate, I don't want to buy it from the very good bike shop. Want to buy it myself. Anyway, not sure what the details are on a bottom bracket for a KG271. Can anyone help me with figuring out what the important details might be (width, thread)? I've been trying to call Look, but they don't pick up...

    ha!

seriously though, when you have a bit of cash, stick a geared road groupset on it, get a replacement rear mech hanger from Look and the bike will ride 100000 times better than the set up you have now, IE as it was designed

Haven't been on for a while, but thought I'd post another pic now that I have new wheels and pedals (I succumbed to the peer pressure... and sound judgement). Still a fixie though, and that pic of the cracked hanger wasn't actually of my bike, it was of someone else's. But I digress.

    Anyway, here's the update:

    • Campagnolo Delta laced to Miche Primato hubs, DT Champion spokes
    • Michelin Pro 3 Service Course tires
    • Shimano 600 pedals with Lapize straps
    • And finally, this weird Selle San Marco seat with plastic rails

My brother has a brand new Bianchi Super Pista with Chris King and Phil Wood components and all the rest of it and even *he *gets jealous.

Thanks @punkture. To be fair, those wheels are placeholders I had lying around, and I don't have the money for anything else right now. The project was to build a fixed gear, so I'll stand by the pedals, which have straps now -- I'm sure you'll approve.

Incidentally, does anyone have any pegs they'll sell cheap?

Few weeks back I mentioned I was building a KG271. Here it is:

Here's a picture of the right dropout of a KG271 that I found online. Looks like the hanger was cut off and then replaced -- don't know why. It shows how the adjustable dropouts work though. http://i733.photobucket.com/albums/ww335/telepciaka/100_1499.jpg

Thank you for your responses. What he was saying did sound strange.

@Hovis, I'm not really sure, to be honest. I'll post a picture when I get the chance. In any case, the bracket that slides back and forth on the right dropout does have a hanger built in, so maybe their purpose by design has more to do with geometry than chain tensioning? Either way, it'll allow me to build it as a fixed gear without the use of an eccentric BB or hub.

So... not sure if this is the right thread (although it appears to be), nor if this is blasphemy, but I just bought a KG271 frame (with the adjustable vertical dropouts), and was thinking of building it up as a fixed gear. Thing is, the guy at the local shop, who generally sounds like he knows his stuff, says that the weave of the carbon fiber isn't meant for the backwards pressure in the chainstays and could snap. BS?
