This is a really nice top quality build that I will be sad to see go. Sadly it is a little too big for me as I tend to have short reach.
The bike has been very well looked after and while the condition of the frame is reflective of its age, it looks stunning in a very unique and highly prized and quality paint job.
Runs and handles very well.
This really is a great bike from the era and a fine example of craftsmanship.
Frame
A hand built frame which was imported from Italy in the late 1980s by master craftsman Rossin.
The frame is badged as 'Columbus Acciaio Speciale' which was the earlier labelling given to the Columbus SL line of race tubing.
The frame also has horizontal adjustable Columbus dropouts to allow to conversion to fixed wheel.
Dimensions
Seat Tube (centre to centre) = 22.75 inch/57.5cm
Top Tube (centre to centre) = 23 inch/58cm
Build
Bars - Modolo Professional with 110mm quill stem
Groupset - Mainly Shimano 600 including the headset, brake callipers with Shimano brake pads, non-indexed gear levers. chainset (170mm crank 52T 44T), rear derailleur.
The break hoods are Shimano 105 and the front derailleur is Gipiemme with a braze on fitting. Other components include a Regina Xtra 7-speed 12-21 block, KMC chain. Gipiemme 27.2mm fluted seat post, Kasimx RS saddle and brand new Cinelli Cork handlebar tape.
The wheels are hand built Vince tubular LP4 rims with Shimano 600 HB6207 hubs (ride like GP4 wheels of same era). Tyres are recently changed Vittoria Competition Kevlar tubular tyres.
Note
The general condition is good but the bike fame has had the usual odd scrape and chips through use.
There is one major blemish on the RHS down tube near the bottle cage (see pic) which was present on delivery. This hasn't gone through to the steel and has never caused rust. Frame returns were a nightmare so this was just left at it was.
A second area for touch-up consideration is RHS upper seat stay which has a few chips/scrapes (see pic).
Note that there is no rust on the frame or around bottom bracket paint area.
