World apart from football wow. These guys must really love the sport!
It IS a world apart , yes, but bear in mind those figures are just for stage finishes and sprints etc. The GC also carries a large-ish prize fund - but they aren't racing for prize money, they are getting paid to be there by the teams. A rider that does well in the TdF ( stage win) can expect a hefty increase in salary for the rest of the season, and probably the rest of his career.
Last years numbers showed an average salary for a pro team domestique as just over €100,000. The big names can earn up to €5m. That doesn't include personal sponsorships etc. (Ernst and Young Audit of UCI team finances.)

Hinault on itv highlights talking about crashing in a sprint in Saint Etienne where he broke his nose and made "a hole" in his head, then getting up to ride his bike to the finish like it was nothing; shrug "I had many other worse crashes". Love that guy.
That's what I'm talking about Jimmy - none of this *"he's a bit wheezy and he's got a hurty back" *shit about Talansky.. ;)
This, plus the film of him getting back on the bike and riding to the finish with blood pouring off his nose.

His wrist looked to be very heavily supported and they'd padded the fuck out of his bars. Fractured perhaps?
Brailsford was saying he was in a lot of pain, did everything but actually admit it was fractured. Wouldn't be surprised it if was. He was certainly favouring it after the last fall even though he landed on the opposite side this time.

Well Sky have come out and said openly that Porte is the man now. Brailsford also said that Froome and Porte had always been on equal footing in the team so switching focus to Richie was the logical move. How much of that is true and how much is spin is hard to say, but Porte is on point for Sky now whatever way you look at it.
Geraint Thomas has promoted himself to Super-Domestique in the process and we'll almost certainly see him in the role that Porte played for Froome last year. He'll be looking to next year to move up.

Unless I missed something, you probably get paid through the app just like Hailo.
In which case, you'll be doing the work for free whilst the courier who turns up and finds the package already being delivered gets paid handsomely for not doing the delivery.
I guess that works if you're feeling generous and kind that way.
I meant in a more unscrupulous manner.
Courier Co. dispatcher has the app, posing as a rider.
Accepts every job that comes up before anyone else gets it (no thinking involved, just accept the job regardless).
Passes them onto their own riders via the usual radio dispatch.
Their rider does the job.
Courier Co. gets paid via the app, not the rider.

What would stop an agency from getting the app and just grabbing every job that came up before farming it out to their own riders?
It's been a while, but the last time I worked as a bike courier (motorised version) no-one stopped to check who you were. You just rocked up in the right gear and said "picking up a package for " and they handed it over.

And she hasn't got a job to pay for them. Given what happens when you type her name into Google she may not have one for a while too...
Apparently she has, at least according to the Mirror's reporting of the case.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/emma-way-bloody-cyclists-twitter-2811552
Way, who stressed she did not receive a fee for the appearance, was sacked from her job as a trainee accountant with Norwich-based Larking Gowen after the tweet came to light. The court heard she has now got a new job.

If she was paid it's in direct contravention of section 3.3 of the broadcasting code.
3.3 No payment, promise of payment, or payment in kind, may be made to convicted or confessed criminals whether directly or indirectly for a programme contribution by the criminal (or any other person) relating to his/her crime/s. The only exception is where it is in the public interest.
